Had a ton of fun presenting about why BMI is a fundamentally limited metric for understanding health and wellbeing at #JSM2024 yesterday! Shoutout to @ilona_maher for giving eating disorder/weight stigma researchers one of the most badass quotes of all time for our presentations.

Imagine going to the club in 1970 to hang with your friends and a band you’ve never heard of called Kraftwerk is playing and they ruin your night by inventing techno music

If you're in advertising and about to launch something super big and expensive like an entire TV or OOH campaign... you should consider doing a bit of research with your target markets. (PS - @helpfullyteam can help you before you step in absolute dog shit with your customers!)

In my first couple of months in the job my creative directors told me about the 'car crusher' emergency script: if you had no time or couldn't think of anything, just do a script where all of the product benefits go into a car crusher and the product comes out. Just remembered.

Georgia is going to do it! 🍑⚡️
Texas should just declare that it's mission is to have the lowest cost, cleanest, and most reliable electricity on the planet. Build the crap out of the grid - transmission and distribution. Stop pitting fossil fuels against renewables and nuclear against everyone. Just build everything, winterize everything. Make it the #1 destination for any data center, industrial or manufacturing facility, green hydrogen and chemicals production, DAC, CO2 sequestration, sustainable aviation fuel production, etc. It would not cost that much relative to the massive economic benefits and payback we could get here.

Here's a head exploding healthtech moment for today! But also, "regulations creation innovations" even if they're perverse.
In Canada, DTC health companies can exist by simply hiring nurse practitioners, not doctors - since doctors aren’t able to charge a patient for services the government already provides.
