My jaws dropped while reading this week's post on @thinink I could not have imagined that American taxpayers' money could be used to fund such a campaign.
This week's issue is about blockbuster investigation from colleagues @MargotGibbs & @ElenaDebre, published last week, on a covert campaign partly funded by American taxpayers to downplay pesticide risks & discredit environmentalists.

An excellent panel of speakers, a nuanced (and well moderated!) conversation which I hope to see again outside of journalism conferences, wherever the debate on food systems happens.
Well done @thinink @tessapang_ @miriambcwells @SilviaLazzaris - take it on the road!

Last year the Sunak government made a terrible misjudgement. It downgraded and ‘normalised’ the threat from the far right. It’s time to recognise that appeasing bigots and racists does not work. My column for Middle East Eye:

6/ So basically Musk's replies function as algorithmic boosts to disinfo and hate speech. As the most followed person on X, he is essentially the disinfluencer-in-chief, giving leg ups to bad tweets that are trying to die.

🧵🚨1/ It's insane that @Elonmusk replied to @europeinvasionn's tweet about UK riots. The account EuropeInvasionn, as I have stated many times now, is an influence operation. It's a hijacked X account that exclusively deals in anti-migrant & anti-Muslim great replacement disinfo

1/ The situation in #Maungdaw is now a deadly catastrophe. Escalating atrocities are being targeted at #Rohingya civilians by the second. My community members there tell me that they've been entirely expelled from the downtown & are now trapped along #Myanmar-#Bangladesh border.
