The FIRST photo of a female White-cheeked Tody-Flycatcher in the hand! ๐คฏ
This ULTRA rare species disappeared for 30 years from scientists after it was described in 1950! A super patchy distribution with specific habitat, this is a MEGA for us to band and release for research! ๐ณ

Some white children were throwing rocks at her as she walked home. She was a schoolteacher. So she did what a teacher does โ she told them to stop.
That night their parents came to her house and sh0t her. Elizabeth Lawrence. Birmingham, Alabama, 1933.
She had spent her life teaching children. She corrected some children in the street. A mob came to her door for it.
When her son Alexander tried to press for an investigation, they came back and burned the house down. He fled Birmingham and did not return.
No one was charged. Her name appears in no textbook.
We publish the massacres because they happened. But cases like this one are the ones that tell you how the system actually worked day to day โ because the "offense" here is something a decent adult does automatically, without thinking, anywhere on earth.
She told some kids to stop throwing rocks. That was enough

Oolitic sands of the Bahamas are one of the most photographed regions of Earth from space. These undersea sands shift over time and when formed in warm shallow waters produce vivid turquoise patterns.

Always loved this photograph of the twin towers by Jay Maisel. They had such a monumental presence.

Back in the 80s, our tracing machines could only draw black lines on animation cels. So, all the smoke in this scene was hand-traced onto the cels using real pens. I like to express my gratitude to everyone who created this scene, not just with inking and painting.

Remember those stories about male writers who stopped writing after their wives died, and we called it "losing their muse"? They didn't lose inspiration, they lost their uncredited co-writer.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, 28-year-old Marcy Borders was at her desk on the 81st floor of the North Tower.
It was her first month on the job.
When the plane hit, her boss told everyone to stay where they were. Marcy ignored him and ran for the stairs.
She reached the lobby of a nearby building just as the tower came down behind her. A photographer caught her standing there, frozen, covered head to toe in grey dust.
To the world, she became known as "The Dust Lady."
But she never wanted to be famous for it. She became afraid of planes and tall buildings. She started drinking and using drugs, lost custody of her kids, and spent years unable to work.
In 2011, she went to rehab and got clean.
Three years later, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Marcy always believed the disease came from the dust she breathed that morning. She died on August 24, 2015, at 42.

itโs wild that the heritage foundation wrote in text that the assault on trans woman particularly in sports is their first step in their efforts to completely abolish all Title IX protections and liberals still donโt believe itโs about more than trans women in sports
