An elderly couple who were filmed racially abusing a Filipino nurse in a park have been jailed. A video of Michael Bairstow, 77, and his 72-year-old wife Fyona making racist comments and assaulting Apple Moorhouse went viral following the incident in Halifax in August 2025. The couple admitted racially aggravated assault and were both jailed for eight weeks.

Britain has a real problem with thinking a person is good and sensible regardless of the evidence, just because they're middle class and superficially not unpleasant, and Lucas is a classic example.
