I wish more performers would talk to their audiences. Inexperienced classical audiences could use a bit of info on what they're about to hear in a way that's more engaging than program notes. When you have an experienced audience, you can crack music jokes that get real laughs!

I recorded an episode for @theupnote about an interpretive process that looks to literature as an optic for comprehension and expansion! So fulfilling/ downright luxurious to discuss the dialogue between some of my favorite musical and literary loves.

Hi Twitter! We join you here in the middle of a project: our four-part broadcast series “Up In My Head” which explores the individuality of each of our hosts and offers a glimpse at what’s going on in our minds as we prepare, process, and perform!
In ep1, @jare_d_ickerson gave an account of his navigation through a career-threatening embouchure injury & the way it reshaped his character and reinvigorated his passion for music. Through mental/emotional turmoil arose a desire to confront the ills of society through music.
