Beep beep. It’s the birthday of the great Norwegian gloomist Edvard Munch (1863-1944). Munch spent the first half of his career being ahead of his times, and the second half drifting behind them. A fine show at the Royal Academy sees him paired with Tracey Emin! Moody late work.

What if we changed the rules so that, to get a “5-Star Safety Rating,” a vehicle also had to be safer for everyone AROUND it, like people walking, people on bikes, KIDS(!), & people in other vehicles in a collision? Vehicles have been getting more deadly in the name of safety.
