Good morning to everyone EXCEPT, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters!
Republican Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters says the Tulsa massacre in Greenwood can be taught in schools but the instruction should not mention the issue of race. "Let's not tie it to skin color"
For two days in 1921 — black residents were terrorized and had their homes and businesses destroyed by white lynch mobs. The event is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history

My fellow Americans, it doesn't have to be this way. We are the only country who lives like this. We are the only country who dies like this. And we have the power to change it.
This is a policy decision, one that can - and should - be changed. Immediately.

It is against the law to impose corporal punishment on prisoners, children in youth detention facilities, and animals. So why is it legal to hit students? Oklahoma should outlaw corporal punishment in all schools for all children.
#oklaed share with your representative - ask them to vote for HB 1028 to prohibit the use of corporal punishment on children with disabilities
The bill that would protect children with disabilities from corporal punishment is likely to be reconsidered for a vote tomorrow. For my colleagues who said they could not vote in favor of prohibiting hitting disabled children because they felt like they were voting against the Bible, I would like to remind you that our job is to serve the people we represent, not to adhere to religious doctrine.

CAPITOL UPDATE: Sen. Garvin’s SB 193 would be a good way to demonstrate that state government is a pro-family employer and it could lead the way, by example, for progress in maternity and childcare in the private sector where possible. okpolicy.org/child-leave-bil…
