Yet again we see a child left in a vehicle in the heat in Queensland! Below is a graph showing how the temperature can climb inside a vehicle.

AIOH conference is in Sydney at the ICC in November. Call for abstracts is out. Be part of it. Great opportunity. aioh.org.au/events-public/ca…
Just Ask Three If you are providing or being provided a respirator, ask these three questions: 1. Is it a certified N95/P2 respirator? 2. Has there been a face fit done? 3. Was training on its use provided? Answering no to any of these, means you may not be adequately protected!

So you’re an Occupational Hygienist……..What’s that? We need an “elevator speech” - short 20 to 30 second clear and simple commentary on who we are. Email [email protected] by 26 March with your suggestions! #aioh #occupationalhealthandsafety #branding #newideas

To the “experts” providing the advice that N95/P2 are not necessary for frontline HCW. Can you provide the logical scientific based assessment that led to this outcome. I am always interested in learning something radically new or please review your advice.

Some interesting info relating to managing heat stress during COVID-19 in health care scenarios. May not be an issue yet in Australia but warmer weather is coming. Let's be prepared. ghhin.org/heat-and-covid-19/…
Great update. Practical approach.

Don’t forget that this is for an 8 hr daily exposure. Work a longer shift and it needs to be reduced even further. Critical to make sure controls are effective and verify they are operating as designed.
The recently reduced Australian WES for silica doesn’t give much wiggle room for demonstrating compliance. Half of 0.05mg/m3 means elimination of the exposure should be the #occupationalhygiene goal...

This really is mind blowing.
The most horrifying image I have seen in a while: 3D “visualization” of the fires in Australia, made from data from NASA’s FIRMS (Satellite data regarding fires) between 05/12/19 - 05/01/20 showing all areas which have been affected by bushfires bit.ly/2N3EM3P

Agree! During my time in smelting we had to import specific smaller sized respirators to get a face fit for our vac students. P2 masks off the shelf are not designed for the young. A poor face fit can be dangerous as wearers go unprotected into areas they would normally avoid.
Do the masks come training? Or letting ppl with lung disease know to consult with their Doctor to see if they can tolerate the added strain posed by the mask? Can “Children 14 years and younger” actually get a facial fit with a P2 so it works (yet to see it myself). If so, great!

Indeed a sad day but this is a rarity for us. I have worked in cities where this is a common occurrence. Maybe it is time that our leaders start to look at the big picture. This is not something we want to become commonplace.
Sad day for air quality today. Photos taken less than an hour apart from the CBD 😷😷😷 #sydneysmoke #bushfiresNSW

Great to see part 2 of the heat stress podcast from 3M. The two heat stress podcasts were my first time into this genre of communication. Slowly getting the hang of this social media revolution. If you like you can check it out at lnkd.in/gqmvXUB. Thanks to Mark Reggers.
