After learning that they’ve literally controlled SHAcoin since 2017 (via pool pressure), I am NOT underestimating the state again.

Let me try explaining it this way.
Do we all agree that the government is *eventually* going to come after our chain because they cannot control it (unless we let large mining pools form again, and if we do, shame on us)?
I expect them to make some sort of moves to make it illegal to participate in our chain (either making it illegal for individual citizens to mine on it and/or run a node). The suits need governments to crack down on us because we are the real threat now that the spam chain has been captured.
We agree, right?
In fact, I expect them to crack down on us BEFORE cracking down on the spam chain because, for example, if they try to raise the 21M hard cap on the spam chain before eliminating us as a threat, then our chain would just be sitting there as an escape hatch/relief valve for everyone to come piling into once the spam chain is finally exposed as being captured in a way that even the Coretards can’t deny.
So to my thinking, the deep state playbook will be neutralize the Blake chain first, then once that is done, raise the 21M hard cap on the spam chain (and obviously they would make it illegal for individual citizens to run a node as well). They will make it so that only “trusted government partners” such as Strategy, Coinbase, Blackrock, etc., will be allowed to run nodes, which means they alone will be determining the consensus rules going forward. Hence the hard cap raise.
So, knowing that they want to do this, we should be asking ourselves: what attack vectors will governments have against our chain?
I don’t pretend to know the more technical ones. That’s your job to anticipate those and make sure we are not sitting ducks.
But one of the more obvious ones I CAN see coming is putting the hammer down on us in the interest of “protecting consumers“ from “buying the wrong bitcoin.“ They will claim that we insisting on calling our chain “the real bitcoin“ is intentionally deceptive and only done because we are trying to hoodwink ignorant investors into buying our coins so we can rug them.
If we run around calling our chain “bitcoin“ or “the real bitcoin“, you can rest assured they will try to make that case to the courts, and if you think the courts are going to protect us little guys, you have another thing coming.
So let’s be clear: this is not a question of which chain is true to what Satoshi Nakamoto envisioned, or which chain possesses the true ethos of bitcoin. We all know that’s us. THAT IS NOT THE POINT.
The point is not leaving us exposed to government attack vectors. They will not be able to come after us for inviting CSAM in, like they will the spam chain. So whatever charges they come after us for are going to be entirely trumped up nonsense. We need to be thinking two steps ahead and eliminate those attack vectors.
Obstinately calling our chain “the real bitcoin“ marches right into their trap. They are not going to just leave our chain alone and let it gather strength to put their money printers out of business. Or do you disagree?
Everyone in the 110 army understands that we are the better chain. But referring to us as “bitcoin” is asking for trouble, is shortsighted, and will require endless clarifications when publicly debating.
This isn’t about being smart. It’s about being wise. Those are not the same thing. We already know we’re smarter than them. But that’s not going to deliver us victory. We have to be wiser as well.

High time preference: Get all you can get while you can get it.
Low time preference: Help build something so your grandchildren will prosper.
The chances of recapturing the spamchain and restoring it to Bitcoin's original purpose are far lower than the chances of BLAKE2b Bitcoin succeeding.
BIP-110 supporters who want to “continue fighting” on the CSAM chain need to understand this.

During the altcoin-scam years, “we’re all on the same team against fiat” became such a cliché that Bitcoiners learned to treat the phrase as an attack.
And for good reason.
Yet all of these remain true:
1) Satoshi opened a Pandora’s box
2) The idea is here to stay
3) No one can stop it from respawning in various forms
4) Most respawns will be scams
5) A few won’t be
6) One of them will kill fiat
Some will use the immaculate-conception argument against this. But remember: soft forks and hard forks are a part of that immaculate conception.
If they weren’t, then the immaculate conception ended in 2011.

Do realize that Bpedo (or Corecoin, or whatever you want to call it) is _exactly_ what "Segwit2X" and BCash would have looked like if the miners went along with them.
It is in fact a contentious hardfork attempt. Are you just going to give in? Or stay on Bitcoin and fight?

Technically the BIP110 chain forked at 961631, since non-BIP110 produces more blocks.
But as I see it: an obvious, uncomplicated UASF that removed attack vectors was ignored by every major pool wo/ URSF, not even the effort. They just threw max HR/s at that height. They forked.

The miners didn’t just ignore BIP-110.
They publicly demonstrated that node consensus is optional when money is on the line.
What’s running on the heaviest chain now isn’t Bitcoin.
It’s a permissioned database with a marketing department.

So here's the plan for selecting Bitcoin's new PoW algorithm:
Nobody knows the new algorithm right now, and nobody will until we all know at the same moment.
At 14:00 UTC August 11th, we will begin watching Bitcoin's Testnet4 chain for new blocks.
The very next block found, look at the block hash.
The last character will choose the new algorithm.
(Note that testnet4 blocks are typically timestamped wrong!)
As soon as I see that block, I will reveal the mapping showing which algorithm that character represents.
Throughout the last 24+ hours, the community has discussed and made a short list of candidate algorithms.
I compiled that list into a weighted (according to their suitability) set of options for the mapping list.
You can prove I didn't rig it, by SHA256 hashing the mapping text file.
It will match 71a7960874f3352f4ba600ce67bd6f8e96702565abea93021fa86349d99a45e8

Bitcoin was dealt a serious blow on 8/8 2026. It hurts because we know what was at stake, and what this means. It hurts because most of our enemies are too stupid and ignorant to understand they're rooting against themselves. It hurts because the suits don't care about bitcoin, and never did, and now we know this without a doubt. It hurts because the influencer class betrayed us, and bitcoin. And they were not as smart as we thought. Or they thought.
Sip the whiskey, fire the joint, hit the heavy bag. But then get back here and look at what happened with clear head and eyes. We only fail when we fail to learn from our mistakes.
For what it's worth, here's what I think about the current state of bitcoin:
- Bitcoin is a captured project and we were too late in reacting. We don't know the precise structure of the capture, but it's clear that Core, Strategy (Saylor), Bailey, most of the big mining pools, and a number of other key figures are part of it.
- Miners were almost certainly coached through this via backchannels. All the people wanting to "bet" in prediction markets knew something we didn't.
- Many influencers showed their true colors, possibly also backchanneled, especially ones changing their tune suddenly, without good reason, and without any willingness or ability to engage in debate over the actual principles.
- None of the arguments made by Core proponents and BIP-110 opponents made any sense and still don't. Some of it is stupidity. Some of it tribalism. Some of it is by anti-bitcoiners. But there is a weight in the space that we can't see, except by its gravitational influence. It has warped a great many minds around it. We don't need to know what it is to know it exists.
- The main chain is unsalvageable. Let the suits and scammers and spammers have it. It will turn into etherium and become irrelevant. Not tonight, but eventually. We are early. We are few.
- We are not so few. 20% of the network went all in. It grew from 0% on the principles and merits despite overwhelming opposition from nearly every imaginable corner and entity. That's how we know it got where it did on merit. This wasn't David vs Goliath. This was David vs a legion of Goliaths. And yet, we nearly won. Perhaps if we'd had more time. Perhaps if just a few influences hadn't turned their backs on us. Maybe if Saylor hadn't been quite so evil. We'll never know how close we came.
- I would rather start fresh on a clean coin with the 20% of you who went all in on this than remain with the 80% on the cucked coin. One of you is worth a 100 of them. I believe if we did this, we would eventually outgrow them, the same way we grew support for BIP-110: on the strength of the principles and merits.
The mission hasn't changed. We still need to fix the money. Satoshi almost one-shot this whole thing from nothing. But the one thing he didn't foresee was the corruption of the developers.
We know this can work. We almost got there. I have taken the orange pill and I can't go back inside the fiat matrix now. Let's regroup and figure this out while there's still so many of us riled up. Sulk today, but sober up tomorrow, and lets get back to work.

The legacy chain is, by definition, a shitcoin.
And they’re afraid of the coming PoW change.
The whitepaper uses the word “honest” 16 times.
Satoshi explicitly assumes that honest CPU power controls the majority of the network.
“As long as a majority of CPU power is controlled by nodes that are not cooperating to attack the network…”
and later:
“The system is secure as long as honest nodes collectively control more CPU power than any cooperating group of attacker nodes.”
If that assumption fails, Satoshi’s security model no longer holds.
PoW doesn’t make miners honest. It determines which valid chain has the greatest accumulated computational work.
Bitcoin’s security model depends on the majority of that computational power being controlled by participants who follow the consensus rules.
But this isn’t some grand conspiracy.
It’s a game-theoretic outcome of FIAT-incentives that have accumulated over time. BIP-110 is a diagnosis, and arguably one of the clearest demonstrations we’ve had of how difficult Bitcoin’s decentralization problem actually is.
But the results are hard to ignore. Bitcoin’s mining ecosystem is heavily centralized. Anyone paying attention can see it.
A PoW reset could therefore be viewed not merely as a technical change, but as a potential decentralization reset: changing the mining equilibrium, lowering accumulated advantages, and creating an opportunity to distribute block-production power more broadly.
That doesn’t magically create decentralization. It creates a new starting point from which decentralization can be rebuilt.
And if two chains ultimately survive, the game changes.
Initially, the incumbent has powerful network effects: liquidity, exchanges, infrastructure, wallets, developers, capital and institutional recognition.
But if an alternative chain survives long enough and develops meaningful economic activity, the problem becomes a coordination game.
Which chain is Bitcoin?
Exchanges have to decide. Businesses have to decide. Developers have to decide. Users have to decide. Miners have to decide.
The alternative chain doesn’t automatically win.
But its continued survival makes it much harder to treat “Bitcoin” as an uncontested label controlled by one chain.
And this is precisely why a persistent split could become so disruptive: legitimacy ultimately has to be coordinated around, not simply declared.
And to be clear: BIP-110ers don’t hate anyone.
We genuinely want Bitcoin to win, for everyone.
