Maybe it’s because I generally have a risk management mindset but if you’re a Dem wondering “Where could we be slipping/losing?” there’s been no better source this year than Nate. If you’re just looking for good news/spins there are plenty of other sources.
Today’s numbers after some further mediocre new polling for Harris. Lead down to 2.3 points in our national average after a peak of 4.3. The debate is well timed for her at least in terms of having a chance to regain the momentum. natesilver.net/p/nate-silver…

Good news. I finally figured out who Tim Walz reminds me of.

While I agree the MAGA crowd is weird, in a really bad way, I feel some need to reclaim the word weird and remind people that weird cannot only be good, it can be great.

Should I make a Walz with Beshear joke about the VP candidates or is that too obscure a reference?

JD Vance is making history as the least liked VP nominee (non-incumbent) since 1980 following his/her party's convention. He's the first to have a net negative favorable rating. Not surprising given how weak he ran in Ohio in 2022. Far worse than the average Ohio Republican.

I see folks making this "why isn't the media covering Trump's conviction" comparison to Biden's debate and it misses the point. Trump did a media avail EVERY DAY of the trial and answered questions after the conviction. Frequently. Biden hasn't. That's the problem!

L - RNC’s deceptively edited clip, cut one second before Biden sits in a chair. R - The rest of what happened after their clip was cut.

Obsessed with how this sketch from Trump’s trial makes it look he is watching himself in A-Ha’s ‘Take On Me’ video

I've avoided commenting on college protests because they matter way less than the real horror people in Israel/Gaza are experiencing. But there are principles worth defending here, both from the extremism of the far left and the blood lust of partisans on the right. For example:

What’s with the crappy inferior version of “Like A Prayer” on The Immaculate Collection? It’s Madonna’s best song by a mile but they put a watered down version on her greatest hits?

Same for Express Yourself.

Ok, “by a mile” may be an exaggeration. Vogue is pretty close. But it’s a mile after those two.

David Bowie’s self titled album is… odd, in the context of the rest of his career. The whole album has Leonard Nimoy - Bilbo Baggins energy. youtu.be/8-IWFlossYI

I’m pretty squeamish about A.I., but some Ike and Tina classics where they replace Ike’s voice with someone else’s would hit the spot right now.

Where are my keys? “No idea” Who engineered the XTC albums at Townhouse Studios in London in 1979? “Hugh Padgham for producer Steve Lillywhite. That’s where they started to pioneer the gated drums effect used by Phil Collins, duh”

Not that I have watched MTV in the last 20 years, but I still find this sad.
