It’s fine to require people to leave the place in the same condition as it was in when they arrived. Just wash your dishes and take out the garbage. Pretty basic stuff
AirBNB had its place and time, but it’s over. Had a lovely stay at a Hyatt last night, left trash in the can, towels on the ground, and am confident my corporate overlord isn’t going to light me up with a guest review video. A professional exchange of goods for money. The AirBNB hosts did this to themselves and the platform lost control long ago.

Connie Chan was the sole "No" vote on this legislation btw.
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie!
Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow".
So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future. The SHADE Act will no longer allow shadows be used as a basis for environmental appeals. It will save between 3-9 months on some environmental reviews and up to $25,000 per project in reduced staff, consultant, and administrative costs.
We can protect our parks, respect our environment, and welcome more neighbors. We don’t have to choose. It’s time to let housing projects see the light of day.
Thank you to all those who helped turn this into law. My cosponsors Matt Dorsey, Danny Sauter, and Myrna Melgar. My legislative aide Raynell Cooper, all the incredible members of the Planning Department including Lisa Gibson, Lisa Gluckstein, Ryan Shum,Kei Zushi, Tania Sheyer, Debra Dwyer, members of the Mayors Office including Ned Segal and Adam Thongsavat, and our drafting attorney Andrea Ruiz-Esquide.

Scott Wiener has been good on housing and transit legislation—things that we expect our city and state politicians to do.
Connie on the other hand…is absolutely lackluster.
Disappointing, Tom. Senator Wiener being good on housing and transit legislation does not outweigh him being bad on apartheid and genocide: nadiarahman.medium.com/recko…

Connie Chan basically opposes all the same things that the tiny group of Republicans in San Francisco do.
She doesn't want new housing built. She doesn't want urban freeways removed to reconnect neighborhoods. She doesn't want anything done that might even temporarily inconvenience a suburban car commuter or an incumbent homeowner.
It's not a surprise she'd be leading with Republicans.

I might not like everything that @bilalmahmood has done but he deserves credit for getting this over the finish line.
If you have an issue with "shadows" but want trees in the parks because they provide "shade" you are part of the problem.

Connie Chan was the SOLE no vote against this
Unacceptable, we cannot send an obstructionist do-nothing NIMBY like this to represent us in DC
Do not vote for Chan

Connie Chan is a regressive and terrible bureaucrat who wants rents to be $10,000 per month in SF
Anti tech, anti housing, anti prosperity, pro grift, pro crime
That the Pelosi machine threw their weight behind her and Gary McCoy is a disgraceful joke
It could not be more stark, according to the data. You could have the hardest-working, most prodigious Congressional representative or the most obstructive.
“Based on 84 votes she cast on land use since she joined the board in 2021, Chan was second only to former Board President Aaron Peskin in amassing a record consistently opposed to liberalizing housing regulation.”
“From Wiener’s first session in the state Senate in 2017-2018 through the 2025-2026 session, he authored the most bills of any legislator in the chamber, at 186. Of those bills, 97 passed and were signed by the governor — the second-most over that period.”

There’s a clear choice in this race: I’ve fought to build the homes we need to lower costs. My opponent has only blocked them.

.@TomSteyer is one of our most fearless leaders on climate and so many progressive issues. On clean energy, housing, and so many other issues, he’s a leader. It’s an honor to earn his endorsement.
We have two good candidates for Congress in San Francisco, but I'm voting for @Scott_Wiener. He's been a tireless fighter for the city, first as a supervisor and then in the State Senate. He takes climate change and clean energy seriously, and he's focused on bringing down costs for Californians.
We have one good candidate (Scot) and one 🤡

The dems do so much more for trans people than republicans. It’s just delusional to claim otherwise. Yes things can always be better but this belief that dems don't care is completely false
Trans voter to @AOC: Trans people in America feel like they've been abandoned by the Democratic Party, that we are a losing issue, that it's not worth defending us. What do you say to that?
AOC:
The choice should be very easy. I’m shocked this is as competition be as it seems to be

That’s because Sen. Wiener has a long history of tackling issues people care about. Housing, transit, regulating AI, reigning in utility companies, protecting residents against POTUS’s secret police, etc.
It’s because he’s a bi-partisan legislative workhorse who gets shit done.
