Marquez a 91 year-old Argentine Journalist is covering his 18th World Cup. As he hugs Argentina head Coach Scaloni, the veteran Journalist gives me courage to do Journalism and Public Relations until when God decides that it is my time to leave.
91 year old legendary Argentinian journalist Macaya Márquez was in press conference, covering his 18th (!) World Cup 🐐 “Let me ask you… will Messi play against Jordan or not?” 😬 “I’d never reply to any journalist on this topic now… but it is coming from you, and so I tell you: Messi will not start” 👏🏼 “I respect you too much, I’m proud to see you here”, added. Scaloni then went to hug Márquez and took a picture 🫂🥹 Two absolute legends. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐠𝐮𝐲. 👏🏼 🎥 @okdobleamarilla

Ugandans in South African like those from other African countries leave in fear of being chased out after June 30. Our hope is in speaker @ObothOboth @UgEmbassySA to find a solution for their safety. Finding a job anywhere in Africa is not a crime. We are all Africans.

At first it was Kasese International Airport, then came Mbarara and now Kidepo. Which one takes priority and should constructed first? Kasese for me and would be the 2nd busiest after Entebbe.

How can MPs demonstrate against Parliament. If it was against passing bad laws, YES. But protesting against those who call for rule of law is a big disappointment.

FDC was on trial when Court Martial was forcefully trying Hon. Kabaziguruka. Civilians should have seen their freedom on January 31 when Supreme Court outlawed their trial in a military disciplinary committee
FDC Position on Supreme court ruling and the Government response to the ruling. Supreme Court recently delivered a landmark ruling in which it upheld the Constitutional court ruling in the infamous case of Hon. Micheal Andrew Kabaziguruka Vs Attorney General where Supreme Court outlawed Court Martial from trying Civilian suspects. Court described Court Martial as disciplinary tribunals that were established in 2005 to discipline errant serving army officers. Court further directed the transfer of Civilian cases in Court martial to Civil courts. We in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Welcomed this landmark judgement and hailed the Justices on the Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law and for preserving justice. We urge the Government to transfer cases of civilian suspects from the Court Martial to civil courts, in line with the Supreme Court's ruling that prohibits the Court Martial from trying civilians. This demand is part of the FDC's efforts to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and that civilians are not unfairly tried in military courts. The FDC Party is also condemning General Muhoozi's criticism of the Supreme Court's ruling recently during the Tarehe Sita Celebrations in Kyotera, as well as the scheduled NRM caucus retreat in Kyankwanzi, which aims to push for constitutional amendments that would empower the Court Martial to try civilians. FDC view this move as a direct challenge to the Supreme Court's ruling and an attempt to undermine the independence of the judiciary. If Parliament succeeds in processing this amendment, FDC will challenge this move in Constitutional Court because its void. The Supreme Court ruling was not an observation but an order which Government must enforce henceforth. Our stance is clear: the Party will not stand idly by while the Government attempts to erode the rule of law and undermine the principles of justice. By demanding that civilian suspects be tried in civil courts, the FDC is upholding the fundamental rights of citizens and promoting a more just and equitable society. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is further advocating for the swift resolution of long-standing court cases, particularly those involving suspects who have been on remand for over 10 years. This call to action is in line with a recent Supreme Court ruling that aims to address the backlog of cases in Ugandan courts. The FDC's demand for expedited trials is not only a matter of justice but also a humanitarian concern. Suspects who have languished in jail for extended periods without trial have essentially been denied their right to a fair and timely trial. This situation is further complicated by the fact that some of these individuals may be innocent or have been wrongly accused. In addition to the issue of prolonged remand, the FDC is also highlighting the need for speedy resolution of land cases. These cases often involve disputes over property ownership, tenure, or usage, and can have significant implications for individuals, communities, and the economy as a whole. Many land cases have stayed for, more than 30years where the petitioners or respondents died, their heirs also die and the grand children takes charge as such cases rage on without delivering justice. To address these concerns, we in the FDC, we are pushing for reforms that will enable the judiciary to clear the backlog of cases more efficiently. This might involve measures such as increasing the number of judges and court staff, improving court infrastructure, and implementing more effective case management systems. Ultimately, the FDC's call for action is a reminder that justice delayed is justice denied. It is essential that the Ugandan judiciary takes steps to address the backlog of cases and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their circumstances, have access to a fair and timely trial.
