A month ago I posted how rich Indian MLAs are across every state. The replies exposed two massive problems with how we measure this.
So I built something. Think of it like a dating app, but instead of swiping on romantic interests, you swipe on your public representatives. See a declared asset value, swipe right if it seems believable, left if it seems doubtful. Enough swipes unlocks a trust dashboard, by representative and by state.
It’s called Believe-O-Meter, live on my website, link below.

India has around 15.3 million stray dogs 🐕. That’s about 11 dogs for every 1,000 people. It’s one of those numbers you don’t fully grasp until you start noticing them on streets, in neighborhoods, and around markets across the country.
States like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Maharashtra have the highest numbers overall. But when you adjust for population, Odisha stands out. This shows how unevenly the issue is spread. A lot of it comes down to how cities are planned, how waste is managed, and how local systems respond.
India produced 150,184 kilotonnes of rice in 2024-25.
Uttar Pradesh leads at 20,758 kt, followed by Telangana (17,445) and West Bengal (16,019). Punjab, despite being known for wheat, still manages #4 in rice.
The gap between states is massive — UP alone accounts for roughly 14% of total national production.

Andhra Pradesh at ₹109.65. Andaman at ₹82.46. Same country, same litre, ₹27 difference.
The national average is ₹99.10 — but the South is carrying the top of this list hard. Andhra, Telangana, Kerala all in top 3. Delhi is at ₹94.77 and somehow still has the most vocal petrol price discourse on the internet.
Bihar at ₹105.59 is the number that catches people off guard. You’d expect high VAT states in the South. Bihar being that expensive is a different conversation.
The base price from the Centre is identical everywhere. What you’re paying extra is your state government’s VAT rate. Some states are just more aggressive about it than others.

India produced 146.26 thousand metric tonnes of honey in 2023–24 🍯
Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab and Bihar lead the charts, together driving a major share of the country’s beekeeping output.

💰 How much do Indian families spend on private schooling?
The average annual expenditure per student in private unaided schools stands at ₹28.6K, but states like Chandigarh (₹79K) and Arunachal Pradesh (₹63K) spend far above the national mark — revealing how education costs vary widely across India.
About 14.7% of Indian adults are indebted or currently have an active loan.
But the picture varies sharply across states — while Andhra Pradesh (43.7%) and Telangana (37.2%) report some of the highest levels of household debt, regions like Meghalaya (2.7%) and Delhi (3.4%) remain relatively debt-free.
Southern states dominate the top of the list, reflecting stronger credit penetration but also higher financial dependence across households.

Diabetes cases in India have surged from 162 to 265 per lakh between 1990 and 2021 — a worrying rise of over 60% in just three decades. 📈
States like Tamil Nadu (392.4), Goa (314.3), and Karnataka (307.0) are among the highest, while northern and eastern states show relatively lower rates. 🗺️
Experts project that by 2031, the prevalence could reach 8,500+ per lakh, highlighting an urgent need for lifestyle changes, better awareness, and early diagnosis. 💪🏽
🧠 A reminder: balanced diets, regular exercise, and timely check-ups can make all the difference.
