My dating life became a lot easier the moment I accepted a simple truth: I’m probably not the only man a woman is talking to. Not because I lack value. Not because I’m competing for attention. But because modern dating is exactly that, people exploring options until consistency, trust, and intention naturally separate one person from the rest. I might be her favorite. Sometimes, I may even be the only one. But I stopped assuming exclusivity before it was actually established. And honestly, that mindset alone saved me from a lot of unnecessary disappointment, overthinking, jealousy, and emotional pressure. A lot of people suffer in dating because they create expectations nobody agreed to. They start acting like a relationship exists before one has even been defined. Then they get hurt when reality doesn’t match the fantasy they built in their head. Now, I simply focus on energy, effort, and consistency. If someone values me, it will show naturally over time. I no longer force clarity too early or panic over uncertainty. I stay grounded, enjoy the connection for what it is, and let people reveal their intentions through actions instead of assumptions. Ironically, this mindset brought me more peace, confidence, and emotional control. I stopped chasing reassurance and started paying attention to behavior. I stopped trying to “secure” people and started choosing people who genuinely choose me back. Dating became healthier the moment I understood this: Attachment is fine. Interest is fine. But assumptions? Assumptions ruin everything.
