Tesla’s next-generation Roadster packs a 1 MW drive unit, details that weren’t covered at the unveiling.
Tesla says the battery and drive unit together deliver 1 MW, one-third more than the Model S Plaid, with half the mass. The rear drive unit packs two motors into one housing, though it remains to be seen if a third motor is present in the front.
The Roadster's UI is also retro-futuristic, with extremely smooth transitions and even a nice easter egg. Production is expected to start in 2028.

Paren's Q3 report shows that the US' public DC fast-charging network crossed 80,000 ports for the first time in Q3 2026, even as new deployments slowed.
Operators added 4,106 new ports and 664 new stations, bringing the network to 80,964 ports across 14,614 stations, according to Paren. That’s down from 4,618 ports in Q2.
Tesla still added the most ports, 1,287 or 31.3% of the quarter’s total. Ionna more than doubled its Q2 rollout to 378 ports and jumped from seventh to second, ahead of Walmart at 344.

Tesla wants utilities to adopt flexible grid connections, which it says can get new Superchargers running years before full grid upgrades finish.
Grid capacity is the bottleneck. Tesla says Megacharger projects in Southern California have been in the utility queue for more than three years. Flexible connections let a site run at full power when the grid has room, and drop power when it’s tight.
Tesla has used this approach with PG&E’s Flex Connect program. Tesla expects a typical project to open more than two years sooner under the program.

Walmart’s EV fast-charging network has crossed 1,000 stalls across the United States.
The network now has 1,000 DC fast-charging stalls across 120 locations, about 8.4 stalls per site. It runs on 505 dual-head DC fast chargers rated at up to 400 kW each, making Walmart the second-largest network among US charging providers offering 400 kW or more.
The network went from just over 500 stalls to more than 1,000 in about four months. The last 250 came in roughly 2.5 months, after Walmart hit 750 stalls nationwide on July 24. (H/T @EVChargStations)

GEODIS has ordered 110 battery-electric 44-tonne trucks from Renault Trucks and Volvo Trucks, and it’s expanding its own charging corridors in France.
The trucks are due for delivery by May 2027 and will handle both urban deliveries and long-distance transport in France. Once all 110 arrive, the electric fleet of GEODIS’s European Road Network business will grow to 190 vehicles.
GEODIS is developing electric corridors along France’s main freight routes, with charging available every 250 to 500 km (155 to 311 miles). The company currently relies on around 60 charging points in France and plans to grow that to more than 200 by 2030.
