Introducing tiny.london
A massive isometric pixel map of London, based on amazing NYC demo by @_coenen from 9 months ago
My agent created the dataset, finetuned qwen image LoRA adapter, did a multiday inference run and built an efficient tile viewer!
I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents.
I didn't write a single line of code.
💯 to this.
It's a superpower and the main factor behind all my successful projects, and failures.
Bias towards action. Act quickly to learn faster without being careless.
When I'm building products, I try to default to the smallest responsible step that gives me feedback with some guardrails so that mistakes are cheap to fix and have limited blast radius.
That's helped me ship to millions of users. I've seen a lot of people stall out on their ideas and its happened to me too. On side-projects, I would keep refining them long after they were good enough to try out - it just "needs one more feature", "to load one second faster" etc. But it's easier to reason about something once it’s real and people start using it.
The folks I've seen have the most impact often weren't the smartest in the room. They shipped something small, noticed what broke and shipped a better version as soon as possible. Being wrong early was part of how they learned. Meanwhile there were so many people waiting for certainty that just continued waiting and didn’t ship.
I just got violently physically assaulted on the train today by a white British man, but happy to hear that Labour has identified the source of all the country’s ills to be “illegal migrants” and “asylum seekers” (conveniently conflated).
Profoundly shameful.
I really enjoyed Vercel but will now work on finding alternatives.

Enjoyed my discussion with PM Netanyahu on how AI education and literacy will keep our free societies ahead.
We spoke about AI empowering everyone to build software and the importance of ensuring it serves quality and progress.
Optimistic for peace, safety, and greatness for Israel and its neighbors.

Thread on the beauty of wildlife 🧵
1. A cub looks at her mother with admiration
While we‘re at it, 2024 was a particularly ripe year for quality TV series. The top 10 among them:
10. True Detective: Night Country
9. The Rings of Power 8. Emily in Paris
7. Mr & Mrs Smith
6. The Day Of The Jackal
5. One Day
4. The Penguin
3. The Bear
2. Shogun
1. Ripley
Other special mentions: catching up on series from previous years, I particularly loved The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House (2023), Pluto (2023) and Severance (2022). Very much uncomfortably excited for the new season of Severance coming out now!
6. Shugo Tokumaru: Song Symbiosis
Another kaleidoscope of Japanese folk & joyful pop by Shugo Tokumaru, layering countless instruments on ever-surprising rhythms. More experimental & tender than ever, the relentless energy this time is interleaved with slow, emotional pieces.
2. The Smile: Wall of Eyes
The purest distillation of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood’s alt-rock genius mixed with the sinuous rhythms of Tom Skinner.
Better late than never, I belatedly posted my recap of my top 10 favourite albums from 2024 on my blog:
