Rents should be capped at a fixed proportion of local wages tbh Let the l*ndl*rds and bosses fight it out instead
The way landlords put rents up is out of line with other goods and services. I have a mobile phone. In my contract, there is a clause stating how any price increase will be calculated. Nothing like this in private rental contracts. Landlords can hike rents as much as they wish…

tl;dr - we can’t have nice things bcos late-stage capitalism
If you ever wanna know why capitalism sucks, think about how many people you've known who wanna open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat) if they ever get rich vs how many rich people ever actually open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat).

Agreed! Musical theatre has forever been an artform of adaptation. (OKLAHOMA!, HOW TO SUCCEED, LA CAGE, PHANTOM, RENT, HAMILTON) There are different challenges when the idea isn’t adapted. But skilled and well-supported writers can write a great show from any starting point.

💯 Audiences get much better musicals when the artists writing them love and care about the project. Kudos to all the theatres, producers, directors etc bold and brave enough to help nurture exciting new projects 🙌🏼
Replying to @LiaBuddle
@mincemeatlive exists because @The_Lowry & @newdiorama supported a group of artists to write a musical that THEY came up with & were passionate about. As @MusicDJC & @AdamLenson both said at the #UKMTConference, venues/producers: support writers to spend their time writing (2/3)

Does everything have to be a musical? Yes. If it means skilled and experienced theatre writers get the opportunity to create a new show, then yes. The answer is yes.

And every time someone asks that question we’re gonna turn three more unlikely concepts into a musical. We literally will not stop until there are no new shows left to write. THANK YOU.

Also, the f*cking T*ries keep turning this island into an increasingly fascistic hellstate. Maybe we could worry about that more than some people putting on a fun new show..?

I think this is the moment when Mandy Patinkin is supposed to step forward and still the cacophony by saying, "Order. Design. Tension. Balance. Harmony."

Liz Truss walking out at the T*ry party conference to a song about leaving behind an abusive partner is a lot of things, but it’s especially a great argument for why we need MORE not less arts graduates in the working world.
Lyrics to 'Moving On Up' are how the world and UK feel about Truss. You've done me wrong, your time is up You took a sip from the devil's cup You broke my heart, there's no way back Move right out of here, baby, go on pack your bags

*fewer. If I’d ran this tweet past an arts graduate they’d have spotted that.

Correct!!!
Lizzo plays a flute and one day later everyone's an expert on flutes. They should keep handing her instruments until we accidentally bring back music education

Farewell, ma’am. Thank you for your service AND sense of humour ♥️
This story from former Royal Protection Officer, Richard Griffin, perfectly sums up The Queen's sense of humour and willingness to please. 🎥: @SkyNews

Word of the day is Zugzwang [tzoog-tzwung]: a situation in chess (and life) in which a move must be made, but each possible one will make the situation worse.

Also more fun!!
It’s much easier to create your own opportunities than to chase after the same gatekeepers that everyone else is.
