Gilts FTW. Total return on 30-year UK government bonds beats stocks SINCE BIG BANG liberalized the stock market in 1986. So much for shareholders. (Note: this is the rolling 30 year maturity, so selling old and buying new at each new issue, not just holding one bond throughout)
