@johngibbonsblog @TheAnfieldWrap I loved the unwrapped show this last 3wks. Fully agree with 80/90% of the crowd being local but it’s a bit unfair to pay £300+ via a tout when we live out of Liverpool. I know it might be a one off game but we’re not rich! Need a ballot of us too
Anyway, might be worth discussing the replica shirt situation for a future show instagram.com/reel/DeONz5zD_…

A guy bought a $1,800 Samsung TV and watched it for 3 years.
Netflix. YouTube. Sports. Movies. Every night. Same screen. Same picture. He thought it looked fine. He assumed that's just what a TV looks like.
His friend, a home theater installer who calibrates 200+ TVs a year across luxury homes came over to watch a fight one Saturday night. He sat on the couch, looked at the screen for about 5 seconds, and said:
"You're in Vivid mode."
"What's Vivid mode?"
"It's the picture setting Samsung puts on every TV so it pops under the fluorescent lights at Best Buy. Maximum brightness. Oversaturated colors. Artificial sharpness cranked to 50. It's designed to catch your eye on a showroom wall next to 60 other TVs not for watching content in a living room. You've been watching a Best Buy demo reel on your couch for 3 years."
He picked up the remote and started going through Settings.
"Your skin tones are orange. Your motion smoothing is making every movie look like a soap opera. The eco mode is dimming your brightness by 40% during dark scenes. The sharpness filter is adding digital noise to every frame. Your HDMI ports are blocking HDR from your streaming stick. Your TV is taking screenshots of your screen and selling your viewing data. And Bixby has been listening through the remote's microphone since the day you plugged this in."
He changed 9 settings in 11 minutes.
The guy looked at the screen and said "did you buy me a new TV while I wasn't looking?"
His friend said: "Same TV. Same panel. Same $1,800 you spent 3 years ago. Samsung builds incredible displays and then ships them with settings designed for a retail store, not your living room. Nobody tells you to change them because Samsung makes money from the defaults you leave untouched."
Here's every setting he changed 🧵

Hey followers.
Gonna open up a little… I hope you don’t mind…
I’ve been in a massive creative rut over the last few years.
Stand-up’s been great. It’s always been good to me, and I’ve been largely happy with what I put out and the progress I’ve made over the last few years.
But with the decline of normal TV and the ever decreasing pool of opportunities available from the streaming services, I’ve been left in a bit of a limbo state.
I’m part of an in-between generation, that started in stand-up, when traditional TV was just at the start of its decline, and social media was very very new, and completely unpredictable.
My generation of comics were stranded in purgatory. Encouraged to chase our TV dreams at the expense of social media, because it was so new and so few could’ve predicted the massive swing the other way.
And we got some good work. The odd bone was thrown our way. Thank you Man Like Mobeen.
But where Live at the Apollo had close to SEVEN million viewers in its heyday, creating overnight stars of its guests, by the time I did it, its audience was less than a million, and largely people who aren’t the first in the queue to buy tickets to an unknown stand-up’s tour.
And so, inevitably, the pendulum did swing. Big time. And some people were great at adapting to it. Others (like me), kept hanging on, thinking our big break is just around the next corner.
But those, like me, have seen ourselves be completely overtaken by a generation of multi-talented online creators, who are so good at what they do and even better at reaching an audience, and cultivating a supportive community.
You know who I’m talking about. Like me, you probably follow a few of them.
Truth is, I should’ve been an early adapter, I had the time and talent, if not the skills. But the other truth is, I was scared. I’m not technically adept, and the fear of failure can be paralysing.
Stand up comedy is such a difficult skill to get good at it, and takes a lifetime to master. I’m not bad at it, and it’s earned me a modestly good living.
But I put my heart and soul; blood, sweat and tears; my time and all my energy into stand-up.
I can’t say I’ve done the same with social media and the online space. I just haven’t put in the hard yards. Always making excuses.
And it may be true… I didn’t get into stand-up to become a content creator as we understand the word to mean today. I got into stand-up to write jokes and perform them on stage. Not to set up cameras, think about lighting and sound, editing, subtitling, making thumbnails on Canva (I still have no idea how to do this).
I wanted to impress a live audience, not beat an algorithm.
But I was wrong. I do need to do this. I have ideas. Lots of them. Are they good? How will I ever know if I don’t put them out there?
The days of pitching ideas to TV companies and getting money off them to make something are gone. I missed that boat.
So, like the multi-talented content creators, I have to make my own boat. I have to make my own opportunities. My own work.
Most importantly:
I have to get over myself.
And so that’s what I’m doing.
I’m gonna get over myself. I’m gonna make content. Regularly.
I’ll continue to share clips from stand-up. Crowd work and jokes from specials and what not.
But I’m also going to start doing the hard bit. Making time and effort to create original content. Maximising my talents to make what I want and sharing it with you all.
All I want to do is entertain you.
And what I ask from you in return is encouragement, grace and support.
If you like what I do, please take the 2-3mins out of your day to engage with what I put out. Watch it, like it, comment on it, share it. The more you encourage me, the better my stuff will become. Promise.
And one day… When I sell out Hammersmith Apollo, it’s you that’ll have put me there.
See you soon.

🚨 Elon is Bored but Dangerous
It’s clear that @elonmusk is far more calculating than most people realize.
But he’s also a bored billionaire who can afford to treat people’s lives like pawns in a video game—and he’s doing exactly that by treating people, nations, and ideals like meaningless pieces on a game board.
Like many who accumulate vast wealth, he likely feels unfulfilled because money alone doesn’t create meaning. The pursuit of “more” never ends because it doesn’t fill the void.
Tesla’s stock is falling, with the company set to face serious competition in 2025. He’s drawn fire from MAGA supporters over his H1B visa stance and now appears at odds with @realDonaldTrump . Once a mutual ally, Trump has been sidelined as Elon takes center stage, reducing Trump to the role of sidekick.
Elon needs a distraction.
In the UK, he has ‘patriots’ rallying behind him—people who claim to oppose unelected bureaucrats and foreign interference but seem to overlook Elon’s contradictions. He backs an openly racist figure like Robinson while sidelining @Nigel_Farage and much of the Reform movement—not out of conviction, but because the UK is just another stage for his spectacle. He doesn’t care about Britain; this is entertainment for a man who can afford to play.
His alliance with Israel isn’t necessarily driven by ideology. It’s likely transactional: Israel’s advanced technologies benefit his space exploration goals, and aligning with a pro-Israel Trump administration helps secure the U.S. dollars he needs for his ambitions.
Elon’s ability to stoke division—through race wars, culture wars, and political polarization—is plain to see.
The super-rich thrive on keeping ordinary people distracted and divided, fighting over scraps while they consolidate wealth and power. They profit as we’re encouraged to turn our frustrations against the weakest and most vulnerable among us, blaming them for our struggles instead of addressing the real sources of inequality.
And we’re falling for it. On X we rip into each other over meaningless arguments, fueling division while they sit back and enjoy the chaos.
Meanwhile, people clamor to “take their country back.” But what does that even mean anymore?
The more we channel our anger toward “the other,”the further we drift from the values we claim to defend.
By the time you reclaim your country from whoever or whatever you think took it, you might find you’ve become the very thing you despised.

This is one of the most astonishing videos I have ever seen posted by a Conservative MP, let alone a candidate for the leadership. Most of it is twaddle, a series of promises of change that leaving the ECHR will do nothing to take forward.

Just unbelievable how badly @zarahsultana is treated here… They ask her questions, cut her off while she’s addressing those questions then accuse her of not answering the very questions they interrupted the answers to… Upon which they sneer and cackle at her with embarrassing conceit. Astonishing.
1. Have some manners. She is your guest.
2. Don’t all speak over her at once and then condemn her for not being able to answer you.
3. Don’t dismiss everything a woman of colour says when she tries to very politely tell you hard truths. That is called bullying.
4. Don’t arrogantly tell her you were right on language your guest correctly identifies as complicit in aggravating and stoking tensions.
5. We have seen endless pictures, videos and anecdotes of Muslims getting attacked up and down the country by right wing thugs… what on earth possesses you to think its appropriate to interrogate and gaslight your guest into believing none of that happened? We’ve ALL seen it! Even non Muslims like myself are traumatised by it so I can’t imagine how she feels. Don’t make your ignorance and lack of research her problem.
Absolutely shocking, @edballs and @kategarraway

The media won’t tell you this but Israel just killed 150 Palestinians in Nuseirat refugee camp today.
150.
Mostly women and children.
This is a massacre.

1 out of every 250 people in Gaza has been killed by Israel in just over 3 weeks. To scale up to the US, this is the equivalent of killing over 1.3 million Americans.
But please, carry on debating what to call this massacre & whether a “pause” to the mass slaughter is adequate.
