Japanese houses are made of lighter and more flexible materials than Spanish houses because they’re made to weather multiple earthquakes a year. Japan has about 1500 earthquakes a year. These materials do not age as well. Typical Japanese houses are demolished after 30-32 years. If you built a Spanish house in Japan, its value would degrade even faster, because by the fifth earthquake you’ll have no ceilings or roof left.
