Last weekend 700 New Democrats participated in @theONDY Youth Convention and Campaign School! Doug Ford’s call for an early election is no surprise because he’s been inching towards it for some time, and has finally found an excuse to try to lock in power.

Wow—700 people joined the @OntarioNDP Youth Convention and Campaign School in-person and online yesterday. That’s incredible. Seeing our movement come together has me fired up, inspired, and ready for what’s next. Let’s keep this momentum going.

Over a hundred young organizers and activists gathered in Toronto today for @theONDY's first in-person convention in years, electing @MikhailDamian and Emma Hartviksen as our co chairs. Young people are ready for change and a government that fights for students and workers.
It was a good day. Thanks to the @OntarioNDP staff & @theONDY for organizing an energizing & informative day of learning/training. Awesome speech by @MaritStiles that inspired so many today 👏👏 #onpoli

Wishing Ontario’s Jewish communities a joyous Hanukkah. May this Festival of Lights bring warmth, love, and hope to your homes, and may its light inspire strength and togetherness. Chag Hanukkah Sameach!

If you were considering donating to the @OntarioNDP this year, or weren't but have some cash to spare, I would encourage you to contribute to the Future Leaders Fund. The fund is split between ONDP candidates 25 or under in the next provincial election. 1/2

When young people tell me they’ve given up on ever owning a home, it breaks my heart. Homes Ontario is about changing that—building homes that people can afford, so no one has to give up on their dreams.
When I'm Premier, my government will build more housing that's more affordable for more people.

Rigged process. Misuse of government funds. Kinga Surma, the Premier’s hand-picked Infrastructure Minister, put billions of Ontario taxpayer dollars at stake while gifting a 95-year lease to a private Austrian company to build a luxury spa.

From the Auditor General Report: The opioid crisis has consistently escalated since 2016, with 7 people dying/day in 2023 for opioid-related deaths. Despite this, there was no data, planning, or public consultation provided to justify closing CTS sites. Irresponsible.

It doesn't shock me that Doug Ford and his Conservatives would vote against building new housing, but I didn't expect the Liberals to also join them... As the saying goes, Liberal, Tory, same old story. 🤷‍♂️
‼️ BREAKING: Conservatives and Liberals vote NO to Homes Ontario — the largest homebuilding program in the province's history. At a time when we should be building more, we’re building less.

After decades of Liberal mismanagement and Conservative inaction, Ontario is stuck in a housing crisis. It's no accident. When I'm Premier, my government will launch Homes Ontario, the largest home-building program this province has ever seen.

Everybody absolutely deserves to feel safe in their community, but everyone has to include neighbours living in encampments. To take away someone's charter rights because they ended up on the wrong side of an economic system that doesn't value them is cruel and dehumanizing.
Replying to @MoreNeighbours
Give me a break. How about the mom that wants to take her kid to the playground, but can’t? Or the walking trail that is now fully blocked? Or the downtown businesses in our cores that are being decimated by encampments? Where are their rights? There has to be reasonableness to this to this issue. If we have sanctioned areas and yet they just refuse to use those areas, or refuse shelters or units, the pendulum is swung too far.

#BREAKING On Monday, I'm taking the first step to fix the housing crisis by forcing a vote on Homes Ontario. If Doug Ford says no—New Democrats will keep pushing. And if he keeps saying no, we'll get him out of the way in the next election. #onpoli

There is nothing “reasonable” about the contemplation of using the notwithstanding clause in regards to helping the unhoused. Rather than pander to the ask from Ford to “ask me for it”, let’s collectively demand that the prov properly fund ODSP, mental health care, housing etc
