the fact that billy is raising a daughter makes me very ill to think about

the most fascinating part about YCSE was how billy was heavily criticized for writing elizabeth’s words for her, and we see Nathan doing exactly that as an unreliable narrator himself. it was so sick. excellent movie to exist after Digger

I don’t think you’ll really *get* YCSE unless you go in with some prior knowledge of Holmes and Theranos because you kinda need to know how absolutely dead to rights guilty she is to understand the fuckery going on

I don’t like getting too in the weeds about a film that just came out, but I have some general things to say:
YCSE is not asking “did she do it?” but rather “why can’t she admit she did it? what kind of person is that?”

can’t stop thinking about elizabeth saying “i don’t know if i knew” in regards to [redacted] being on the call. like she has fully trained herself to never give a clear yes or no even in a situation with ZERO stakes whatsoever

so crazy how much of being a trans woman is getting dressed in the morning and deciding if you'd rather people think you're just a kinda faggy dude or have them gawk at you like an animal in a zoo

the misogyny is jumping out like crazy in how some people are talking about the Spoiler Person in YCSE

i came away feeling more certain that elizabeth is calculated and benefits from offloading accountability to partners who like to control her. its a symbiotic relationship.
something i've learned about unclear communication: true accidental vagueness usually cuts both ways.
someone who’s just bad at words will often be unclear in ways that cost them, but her words always kept her in the light - that asymmetry is how you tell that she is deliberate in what she says. her sentences have always been technically true but arranged to mislead, which is why she can tell herself that she has never lied before.
'You Can See Everything' has me thinking a lot about this moment in Digger.
It's very poetic that these two films released so close to each other
Kinda horrifying to think about what it must be like to operate under the level of cognitive dissonance that someone like Elizabeth Holmes does. I think living under the weight of so many lies and self-wrought fantasms would turn anyone's brain into mush.

i really believe in giving people grace—we are fallible, plans go awry, mistakes happen. UNLESS that mistake involves showing up 20 minutes late to a movie & flashing your fucking flashlight around & loudly wondering where your seat is. in which case i am putting a curse on you

Guys the problem with porn is the labour exploitation and violation in the industry not fucking consenting adults playing pretend in front of a camera can y'all be serious at least for one gods-damned minute

I truly don't think non-DW fans understand just how bad and creatively bankrupt this moment had to be to instakill a 60+ year old franchise
