The CIPC hosted World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Director General, Mr Daren Tang for two meaningful engagements on taking Intellectual Property (IP) awareness to grassroots education and celebrating the creative economy. DG Tang, joined by the dtic Deputy Minister, Zuko Godlimpi and Advocate Rory Voller, CIPC Commissioner, reflected on the important role of IP in South Africa’s development journey. CIPC showcased a flagship initiative earmarked for bringing IP awareness into grassroots education through a book launch. By introducing young people to the value of creativity, innovation and IP from an early age, we are helping to build a future generation that understands how ideas can be protected, developed and transformed into economic opportunity.
