It's obvious that the heuristic I used to mine quotes from the 1.5 million or so forum posts & comments by Effective Altruists was leaving a lot of insanity on the table.
Thanks to prompting from @perrymetzger , I found Yudkowsky talking about baby-eating, BSDM-theorizing, and many other topics - not in a personal context, but in a context that deeply relates to his notion of AI safety.
And it's not just Anthropic that is compromised by EAs; OpenAI's Altman has suggested Yudkowsky might deserve a Nobel prize.

I love visiting students who are growing up in a world where America is returning to the Moon, building a Moon Base, preparing to get underway under nuclear power, and launching missions to unlock the secrets of the universe. The students at the University of Arizona are already playing a part, just as this institution has since the earliest days of America’s space program.
From incredibly badass missions like OSIRIS-REx, to NIRCam on Webb and HiRISE at Mars, to their work on LEMS that NASA astronauts will deploy on the lunar surface, and now Pandora studying exoplanet atmospheres, this university has its fingerprints all over the great frontier.
Just so exciting to be around and witness.
It amazes me how alien honest enthusiasm seems to so many people, as if that kind of high could only come from cocaine or other drugs. You don't have to go through life feeling this detached or deadened. Come hang out with some new friends who dare to dream!

Duration: The 1951 deal lasted only as long as NATO existed and Greenland remained part of NATO. Trump’s 2026 deal lasts indefinitely, even if NATO implodes or Greenland becomes independent.
New Military Bases: In the 1951 deal, the U.S. could establish “defense areas” in Greenland only if Denmark gave the go-ahead. In Trump’s 2026 deal, the U.S. can establish military installations as it sees fit, with or without Denmark’s approval.
Third Countries: In the 1951 deal, Denmark retained the right to allow foreign nations, like China, to establish a presence in Greenland. Trump’s 2026 deal explicitly forbids foreign nations from doing anything in Greenland without U.S. approval.
Foreign Investments: The 1951 deal placed no restrictions on foreign nations making investments in Greenland, such as port build-outs, critical mineral mining, or undersea cable installations. Trump’s 2026 deal requires U.S. approval before foreign nations can invest in Greenland.
Simply put, Trump’s new Greenland deal is an absolutely massive geopolitical accomplishment, further establishing America’s dominance over the Western Hemisphere.

Made in America story here. I wonder if his existing custormer could benefit from tube bending, already laser and brake for people who build cages, rails, and chassis, they just never had a place to buy the bent tube. That's him now. Worth asking the old accounts before hunting new ones.
The Defense Logistics Agency (DoD's parts buyer) wants to buy American too. They post TUBE,BENT,METALLIC as small-biz set-asides, 50–300 pcs, drawings on a lot of them. A Grok bot or grok build pass over old quotes plus those RFQs would probably fill the bender faster than another million in tooling. Keep going. It's a US capability we actually need.
CNC tube bending is awesome, but I have to be honest: it has been our slowest-growing service to-date. A little over a year in, and we are doing just $20k / month. Basically zero compared to our top line, and that's after spending more than $1 million on in-house software and equipment to get it going. Meanwhile, it absolutely eats up warehouse space.
Reasons:
- Extremely niche, few people design with it
- Extremely wide needs for tube profile and tooling support - hard to meet every need
- Unique design and tolerance challenges
- High equipment costs, changeover costs, and high square footage makes getting feature diversity extremely expensive and difficult
But we are committed. Long-term, it'll be a win. It's such a cool, efficient way to build things, but people don't, because it has always been almost impossible to buy.

@johnkonrad what are your thoughts on this MIA/POW day. @SecWar Thanks for your efforts on MIA/POW under President Trump's Leadership. Personal note, I worked on MIA projects years ago and My Grandfather was a pow for 2.5 years (Army Tank and Infantry). Do our academies teach these facts:
WWII Merchant Mariners were civilians. They still took the worst per-capita beating of any American service by the count they use: about 1 in 26. Higher than the Marines. The government never kept the books the way it did for the Army, so the number has always been a fight. Coast Guard 1950 listed 5,662 dead at sea. Mariners’ compilations go to about 9,500.
610+ taken prisoner. Dozens died in Japanese camps or on hell ships. 43 U.S. flag ships went down with all hands. Some vanished without a trace.
Left out of the 1944 GI Bill. Veteran status only in 1988, and only for oceangoing service in the war window. Families of men who never came home waited decades for the country to even call them veterans.
DPAA does carry Merchant Marine names. Wiper Elvis Spotts, 18, of Kansas City, was electrocuted supplying Tarawa in 1944, buried on Betio, identified in 2018. Most of the rest are still the sea.
If “you are not forgotten” means anything, it includes the people who kept the Army and the Marines supplied — then and now.
