Having had this account for close to two decades and having my first post get picked up is interesting. The first thing I am noticing is how many are saying the same couple things in very similar ways. Almost like they are regurgitated phrases used by bots with no real thought.

I have worked in the MDM space long enough to know that users and IT admins are way to comfortable with giving anything access. This is a good thing that Apple is thinking about this. The average person should never give these agents FDA. Better controls instead of full access.

I’m no one. Just some random. I hate that years ago I noticed this and just thought, well, I hope it doesn’t suck too bad. I know there are a lot of cool things, but it’s hard to see how they balance out the terrible when it’s people’s lives at stake.
AI is probably the biggest prisoner’s dilemma we’ve ever created. Everyone knows slowing down might be safer. But if OpenAI slows down and Anthropic doesn’t, OpenAI loses. If the US slows down and China doesn’t, the US loses. So nobody slows down.
That’s what makes this so insane. You don’t need some evil person trying to destroy the world. You just need a bunch of people making the rational decision for themselves over and over until collectively we’ve raced somewhere none of us actually wanted to go.
It’s a race to zero. Zero cost of intelligence. Zero time between thinking and doing. Maybe eventually zero need for us at all.

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened.
When you open the trenches with all of this money that Republicans have now funneled to ICE without any oversight, you’re going to see abuses of power. That’s exactly what’s happening.
Notice that we didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree of regularity when we froze ICE funding. And now that it’s been opened up again, we’re seeing multiple incidents.

Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protestor from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation.
This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence.
