I am grateful to my parents for their guidance. We weren’t told we could be anything we want to be. It was instilled in us that we could be everything we want to be. That openness prepared us for anything. They would be proud of this culminating moment.

Republican Mayor of Mesa, Arizona: I am a lifelong Republican. I do not recognize my own party. The Republican Party has been taken over by extremists.
