This is exactly what Sir Jimmy Savile was like
Replying to @tfromthemeadow
The 90’s were fun. Simple as that. The Big Breakfast was chaotic, anarchic and made me almost miss my school bus a few times as I couldn’t tear myself away from the telly in the fear of missing an iconic moment. And it was in no way Jimmy Saville like.

Duck liver lovers beware, it might make you deader instead
Can't confirm this, so just putting it out there. According to to Russian FSB sources, JD vance narrowly avoided a food poisoning incident when he visited Budapest, Hungary, last April. Source saud Ukranian poisoners had ilfiltrated Borkonyha Winekitchen, where Vance and his team and SS detail dined on April 7. Like President Trump, the VP has a "food taster," a Secret Service agent who samples meals in the kitchen before they reach the VPs table. Well, an agent dropped dead in the kitchen that night after tasting "Ducklover Mousse" meant for Vance's table. As he collapsed, gasping for breath, his chest heaving controllably, two other agents chased a "chef" shouting in the Ukranian language, "Fuck Donald Trump." The Secret Service and Hungary State Protection officers chased the suspect from the restauant and onto a busy road, where the suspect dove into oncoming traffic and was killed instantly.

You would never guess from looking at the set that this was a program aimed at adults. 1990s seems like the nadir of TV kultur / Sir Jimmy Savillism. I think man has never lived under more unfree conditions than this
#OnThisDay 1992: Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin were fronting one of the most talked-about new shows on television. Sarah Greene visited the presenters of The Big Breakfast, Channel 4’s bold new morning programme, which was produced from three lock-keeper’s cottages.

This tweet has brought out more passionate defenders of Forthism than I imagined possible (or he has multiple accounts), and is the only time I’ve had that sort of all caps ‘WITHOUT PREJUDICE: U OWE ME A TENNER’ legal threat made over a tweet. Gogglebox man hates the truth
Tom Forth has stolen a free tool from the irish government (and made it worse, as it doesn’t do irregular shapes unlike the irish one) and vibecoded it onto his personal website. This is progress for Leeds or ‘the silicon underpass’ maps.ie/population/

If you don't have at least 1 million people within a 30km radius of your city, you live in a rural poophole. You should move. Test it for yourself: tomforth.co.uk/circlepopulat…

Didn’t take pictures but walked through Place de Clichy thing before it kicked off and before sundown it was mostly white school students, Indian guy with a sign saying ‘frexit’, a few yellow vests with French flags, ageing union bores etc. Wreckers milling around getting ready

For some reason KFC was vandalised far more extensively than McDonalds - the more coherent Palestine protests in same place targeted McDonald’s much more. I think overall low information and little in common between rioters/protestors of different stripes. Especially in

Provinces (where it seems to have been more violent) will be strong temptation to do counter protests and beat up rioters but I suspect this is a mistake

I suspect the first two examples here are true
99 out of 100 asylum claims are bogus, a Home Office whistleblower has revealed. Some of the stories are beyond belief. 'Hundreds' of Iraqi Kurds claimed they had to flee because they'd been in a relationship with the local prime minister's daughter. Apparently, it became a ‘running joke’ in the department. 'Hundreds' of Pakistanis claimed to fear for their lives over a gay relationship, all with the very same man who conveniently provided letters supporting each of their claims. Large numbers of Bangladeshis claimed to be political dissidents associated with a party they knew almost nothing about. Yet the approval rate under the Tories was 77%. The Tories and Labour have built this system. Even after those same men raped and murdered British people. This farce has gone on long enough. We will deport illegal migrants by the hundreds of thousands. We will strip asylum from EVERYONE who broke into our country illegally. We will leave the ECHR and the Refugee Convention and put the British people first. WE WILL RESTORE OUR BORDERS 🇬🇧

Everything I’ve seen (posted on here, hope I don’t need to point that out) about the Conservative Party conference confirms the ‘new lib dems’ hypothesis. The tapestry etc is all profoundly Ian hislop

This is all the funnier since it’s exactly the term her father used to criticise her (‘une petite fille bourgeoise’) when she enacted Anti Doctor Martins Aktion in the 2010s

No idea how seriously Richard Pipes is taken now, but he seems to reflect general view that the entirety of Russian history was building towards Stalin and every decision and pressure led inevitably towards his rule and will always call back to it. Naturally, born in Poland

Land tenure rights in 1300-1600. This is the awful ‘you can still see the outline of long-extinct polity x on a 2020s electoral map’ school, just in book length format. Enjoyable though

But it is true ‘orientalism’ in that there are no real people involved, only bumbling national caricatures who make fateful decisions by accident, driven by ominous land spirits. That Russia certainly feels more oriental than Turkey possibly contributes

Slightly tired truism that Switzerland ‘isn’t a real country’ - I’m sympathetic to a single crescent shaped alpine state from Monaco to Macedonia, but it must be admitted that the Swiss have ‘solved’ toothbrushes. Many shops don’t even offer brands other than the Swiss cross one
