HYPOTHETICALLY… IF I BOUGHT MY HOUSE FOR $125,000 IN 2002 AND THE COUNTY NOW SAYS IT’S WORTH $487,000, WHERE DID I ACTUALLY MAKE $362,000?
Did I sell it? No.
Did I receive $362,000? No.
Did somebody hand me a check for the new assessed value? Obviously not.
But my property taxes still go up because, on paper, my house is suddenly worth hundreds of thousands more.
That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me.
This isn’t income.
It isn’t cash sitting in my bank account.
It’s a number someone assigned to my property, and now I’m being billed based on that number.
If my stock portfolio doubles but I don’t sell, I haven’t turned that gain into cash.
If my salary stays the same, I don’t suddenly owe more income tax because someone thinks I’m worth more.
So why does owning a home work differently?
WHY AM I PAYING TAX ON A GAIN I NEVER REALIZED?
A house isn’t just an investment.
It’s where people live.
You can pay off the mortgage, own the property outright, and still face a bigger bill every year because the value of the house went up on paper.
At some point, you have to ask what “owning” something actually means if the cost of keeping it can keep rising because of money you never received.
THIS ISN’T ABOUT WHETHER THE HOUSE IS “WORTH” MORE.
IT’S ABOUT BEING CHARGED FOR VALUE YOU NEVER TURNED INTO CASH.
And people are starting to notice.

🚨 34 MISSING CHILDREN LOCATED.
A three-day operation in New York brought together 100+ professionals from nearly 40 agencies — and 34 missing children and teens, ages 7 to 18, were found.
That’s what happens when law enforcement shares intelligence, follows every lead, and refuses to quit.
These aren’t case numbers. They’re kids. They’re families.
Outstanding work by every professional who helped bring them to safety.
Find the missing. Protect the vulnerable. Never stop.

Better go see the Great Barrier Reef before it disappears!
Actually, you have plenty of time, because coral cover has actually INCREASED in the last 20 years.

Linnea Lueken of the Heartland Institute helps us reveal the data that disproves claims of: worsening drought, worsening wildfires, catastrophic sea level rise and a dying Great Barrier Reef.

We are gonna need to be better about raising awareness here.
Folks aren’t getting the whole revolving door to criminality that is the daily norm here in Austin…
Let me get this straight: a man accused of plotting an attack on the Texas Capitol, with a prior weapons charge, was arrested at 3 a.m. and bonded out the same morning. $75,000? That's a joke. This man is a danger to every Texan who walks through those doors and to communities across the state. I will not tolerate this, and the individuals who allowed this to occur should be ashamed of themselves and removed from office.

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Georgia after a White Kroger manager who ran into the parking lot to protect an ELDERLY co-worker from MASKED Black shoplifters was BEATEN, left with a CONCUSSION and STAPLES...
...and then FIRED by Kroger 3 DAYS LATER for helping her!!!
After 14 YEARS WORKING THERE!!!!!!
Yes, you read that right.
Sixteen months later, the men who put him in the hospital have never been arrested.
Not one.
His name is Michael Self.
For 14 years, he ran the Kroger on North Decatur Road in DeKalb County.
On the morning of Saturday, May 24th, 2025, around 8:20 a.m., masked shoplifters walked out of his store.
An elderly employee followed them outside.
Cellphone video shows what happened next. The masked suspects swung a bag of paper towels at her.
Then they SHOVED her.
Michael ran out to help her.
"I literally just wanted to draw the tension away from my associates, get them to stop and everybody just be done," he said.
"As I got away from that door, someone hit me in the back of the head with something."
The video shows him on the ground.
He left Emory University Hospital with a concussion and staples in his head.
AND IT GETS WORSE.
Three days later, Kroger fired him.
Yes, after fourteen years a father of three was TERMINATED FROM HIS JOB for trying to protect an elderly woman.
The reason?
"He violated the company's shoplifting policy."
The termination letter, Michael says, accused HIM of starting the fight.
"I didn't even get to talk to the people that decided to fire me," he said.
So the rule is: watch the elderly cashier get shoved in the parking lot.
Do nothing to help her.
Keep your job.
Step in? You're the problem and you're fired
OH, and the Black men in the masks?
DeKalb County police say the case is "still open."
No names.
No descriptions.
No arrests.
AFTER 16 months.
They beat an old woman, cracked a man's skull open, and walked away with paper towels and their freedom.
The only person who has faced any consequence for what happened in that parking lot is the man who tried to stop it.
Michael is finally telling his side of the story because he is still fighting to clear his name and still looking for work.
WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!

I am gay. Trump put gay men in the Cabinet and treated us like citizens. Democrats put us on a flag, sold the movement to gender ideology, and then imported cultures that still criminalize gay men. Now they want the gavels so they can hunt a family instead of securing a country. I vote for the administration that let me live. Not the caucus that needs a villain.

NEW: RFK Jr. says Medicare spending on wound care patches exploded from $200 million in 2019 to $14 billion last year: "It's all stolen."
Bad actors billed Medicare billions by slapping the most expensive skin grafts on elderly and dying patients who didn't need them.
"The doctors who prescribed them would get 6% of the sales cost. And so, they were incentivized to prescribe more expensive products. In Europe, they spend 35 cents a cubic inch. We were spending $135, and that went up to $2,000 a cubic inch."
"So 2019, we were paying $200 million. Last year we spent 14 billion. All stolen. It's all stolen. And we were on track to spend 23 billion this year."
"We put an end to it, and we now have driven that cost down to somewhere around a billion dollars."
In one Arizona case, the owners of two wound care companies pleaded guilty to more than $1.2 billion in fraudulent claims. Medicare paid over $1 million per patient for grafts slapped on elderly patients who didn't need them, many of them dying in hospice.
In June, DOJ charged 11 more defendants over more than $2 billion in allograft claims, including a company accused of issuing sham invoices to inflate what Medicare paid.
It feels like every week I learn a new way people were ripping off taxpayers for billions.

AUSTIN MAN who punched a woman in the head and injured her on Barton Hills was back in the neighborhood this weekend, harassing and terrorizing another woman
Christopher Lewis was pounding on another woman's car and denting it at 5:30 a.m. with her garage open and her kids asleep inside. She drove around the block before he attacked it again. She leaned on the horn until her husband woke up and shut him out of the garage.
Misdemeanor criminal mischief. Bond: $1,000.
A couple of years ago, he punched a woman to the ground in the same neighborhood and stood over her. She told police she didn't know if he was going to rape her or kill her. She got a concussion and took her a year to recover.
The day he was arrested for it, police also caught him with meth. DA Jose Garza's office rejected the felony case. The assault dragged on 18 months before he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor. Court records show his sentence was marked satisfied the next day.
In 2015 he skipped court on a drug case and the state eventually gave up collecting the forfeited bond. A 2016 theft case was declined. A 2021 trespass case was dismissed.

My husband, @mattvanswol has been locked out of his X account for refusing to delete a post he made this morning.
X locked his account for “abuse and harassment” which of course, he did not do.
In fact, he did the EXACT OPPOSITE and stated how horrible the video was and how awful it was to watch.
How can we “be the news” if we cannot post the news without being forced to delete it?
This is wrong.
People should be allowed to see the content Matt posts, regardless of whether it is hard to watch or not.
Personally, I often find it really difficult to watch some of the content Matt posts because it is so horrible.
And that’s exactly the point.
People need to KNOW things like this are happening… because without people like Matt, so many stories would not be national news and catalysts for change.
@x and @elonmusk please fix this.
