Again and again, I say: It is not too late to stop the war in #Tigray and prevent more young people from losing their lives. Silence the guns. Now give the leaders of the #TPLF politico-military #oligarchy an opportunity to disarm, abandon whatever military ambitions and hegemonic agendas they still cling to, and transition to peaceful civilian #politics. Let the rule of law take its course. Anyone and everyone suspected of crimes, past or present, must be dealt with through due process of law, not through selective #justice, political retaliation, or collective punishment. The lives of Tigray’s youth must no longer be sacrificed for the survival and political ambitions of the #TPLF politico-military oligarchy, #Shabia, and the #ProsperityParty. Give the people of Tigray genuine agency, the power to shape their own future, choose their own leaders, and hold them accountable, something they have never truly had. #ይኾኖ

The #TPLF politico-military oligarchy’s diaspora-based social media and propaganda machinery has mastered the art of chronically discounting every opposing voice and inflating every perceived success. In doing so, it has created an echo chamber that repeatedly misleads its own leadership, distorting its understanding of political realities and public sentiment. Some continue this practice even after the leadership’s unprecedented downfall. Among them are sons, daughters, and close relatives of the oligarchy’s leaders, as well as individuals who have materially benefited from business connections and privileged access to those in power. This chronic discounting of opposition and inflating of successes has contributed to the leadership’s persistent misreading of reality and, ultimately, its unprecedented downfall. Yet some remain determined to continue the very practices that helped bring about that outcome.
