Has taken me a few days to process this but sadly we lost a big part of the UK security scene the other day, Thomas V. Fischer, to cancer.
A big part of @BSidesLondon and @44CON and dude you will be missed.
A royal fuck cancer in every way possible.
RIP bruv

In October, 2021, we released 4.0.3 of the OWASP ASVS Standard. This release marked the start of the Vanilla Ice (or 5.0 as everyone else called it) release.
A major rethink about how we use the standard and with feedback from the community.

I gambled a year’s salary and lost.
This is what building a hardware product can look like, especially if it pushes limits.
The OMG Cable has evolved a lot since this story, but it wouldn’t be what it is today without this gamble AND failure. The factory tooling I have built today is something I designed over the years to prevent and identify so many possible failures.
Listening to the @404mediaco 1 year subscriber podcast episode and the focus on quality rather than SEO.
Car stereo failed on me. Twice this week. Apparently the solder on the main microprocessor is a bit old and crap. Reflowed it. Failed again after 24hrs. Looked up the MCU and I don't really fancy reballing the bga. It looks like a PITA

Got up a 3:45 to meet @dcuthbert and @runasand to head out to the Red Rock dessert for a photo session. The silence before sunrise felt surreal. And then we heard coyotes! Epic day, with epic people, and then the sky turned into flames..
Replying to @dcuthbert
When this scan came out, I must have let out some noise that most wouldn't expect. All 12883x4247 pixels worth of pure gold
@stokfredrik and @runasand both watched me wander off into the canyon with a huge tripod and this beast to take this single image. 1 frame, 10 mins
Finally got the tool out. Using similar principles to lock picking. Fond the binding element and unbind it.
You notice the little things when you reassemble something. What's this little notch cut out of the covering cap? To allow you to compress it on the end or something? No, it's so you can shove a thin piece of metal in there to hold the shutter against the spring as you put it on
Playing around with automotive locks and reminded of the 2 cardinal rules of locksport.
1. Only pick locks you own or have permission to pick
2. Don't pick locks in use
Managed to get a tool stuck in a lock today.
