3 straight seasons of winning bowl games and temporarily brought some swag back to Maryland football. The hire was logical and his energy matched what we needed recruiting wise but his X’s and O’s simply weren’t good enough. This is the end of the line @TerpsADJimSmith

My thoughts on Maryland football: It’s been 8 years of building and working through the kinks with this program. He was the only guy that would take the job back when he did with the tragedy of Jordan McNair. He was the right hire AT THE TIME. Over the years fans have grown tired of the same old Maryland: - Awful losses in the spotlight - Constant late game collapses - Constant flat starts - Long losing streaks after a single loss - Game unpreparedness - Awful coaching decisions And so much more… People think Locks is only hated here, he’s not hated, he’s just not the guy for the job. Good recruiter, good guy, and I’m sure he’s a good coach… just not a head coach. We love the players and understand the work they put in, but we are tired of underachieving, under performing, and the demoralizing 4-0 starts finishing in 4-8/5-7 seasons. It is the responsibility of the head coach to stop these collapses from happening and in 8 years he was unable to get it done. 0 big wins and a lot of ridiculous losses. It’s time to move on, for the better of the program. When it’s all said and done, I wish Locks would stay on as a GM, but I don’t see it happening. So locks, when the time comes, thank you for all the work you put in, but it’s time to move on.

Asked Michael Locksley if he believes he deserves more chances to keep *saying* he’s going to learn from losses while rarely actually doing so. Here’s the back and forth. Tried following up but a Maryland PR staffer took the mic out of my hand and Locksley did not look at me.
