Sorry, this is pure FUD. Google API keys are very simple, people just don't follow very simple steps.
All you need to do is:
1. Sign in to google cloud console
2. Create a new project
3. Enable billing on that project
4. Search for numerous "services" that you need to enable for that API
5. Find out there are more you need to enable to actually make it work
6. Go and enable them.
7. Create the key
8. It still doesn't work and you keep wondering why and then spending days with customer support (after many different wrong AI generated answers that lead you to a wild goose chase), you find some hidden webpage that oh wait, you need to create a key in ai studio for this now
9. ai studio says you are only on tier -43 so you can only do transactions of less than $0.2 in a day
10. Then you go to openrouter and make a key and use it.
It's extremely simple.

As it stands now, here is my hottest take:
A software factory is actually an applied automation practice in the actual product. It's not some external thing. It's a product pattern where the product builds the product inception style. Any external system or dependency should be internalized into the product to enable the product to build the product.
If you can't build the product in the product, from the product, then you are missing the mark.
I don't know how to explain this more clearly at this stage. It's a bit mind-bending, but if you understand meta programming, macros and understand the Factorio reference that a factory should build the factory so it can build the factory. It might be a little bit easier to follow along....

Here's Rhys' practical guide to shipping an MCP your users want:
- Your MCP should be able to do everything your dashboard can
Yes including things like deleting resources. The way to make this practical inside of an agent while not having things be unsafe is to deep link them into your product from inside the MCP
- Do not ship lazy loading / codemode inside of your MCP
CodeMode is a harness detail. Most harnesses (Claude / Codex / OpenCode) support codemode now, the problem is if you have two codemode MCPs they don't compose nicely (Executor v2 will still support CodeMode, but, will start to default to a transparent tool proxy for better clients)
- Ship a search docs / skills tool
Agents love these and it helps give them more understanding of your product
MCP is getting skills over mcp which will help here in the future
- Have a deep link into product tool
Let the agent generate a URL that brings them into your product, people still want to use your dashboard and data visualization! They just don't want to click through things
- Customization
I think this matters less over time, but, you can allow people to select 'toolsets' of things to connect with to clients. Some clients don't support customizing tool selections and then it's also nice to have tool permissions set to the auth token
- Let people OAuth from whatever client they want
Please stop putting restrictions on which clients can authenticate to MCP servers, your users hate it, it doesn't improve security, all it does is add more friction
PostHog and Sentry are my two 'AI native' companies to look at today, they both have an excellent onboarding, MCP / CLI experience, if you need a place to learn from look at them
To be honest though, while all the above is helpful just shipping your API spec + CIMD OAuth to it is enough for 99% of agents to have a good experience

Completely insane. Do dogs not feel or want things? There is such a deeply anti-intellectual refusal to even consider that philosophy of mind is complicated across the culture right now.
Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.
