Fine. Now look at the graph.
Trump became president on 20 January 2025. Russian attacks did not fall. They surged. Putin did not become more cautious, more restrained or more afraid of Washington. He escalated.
And to make the contrast even clearer, we created a hypothetical version of what real influence would have looked like: Trump takes office, and Russian attacks drop into a flat line. That is the world Trump keeps describing. It is also a world that does not exist.
The real chart goes the other way.
That is the part Trump’s mythology cannot survive. Influence is measured by what the other man does, not by how often you tell the world he respects you.
Trump keeps describing an imaginary Putin who listens to him. The real Putin keeps launching missiles and drones at Ukraine.
This is a dangerous narcissistic fantasy.

Lachie Cowan has been found guilty of conduct unbecoming following an investigation into his use of an illicit substance.
He has been suspended for the first two home and away matches of 2027 and issued a $5,000 suspended fine.
With so many executives coming from there, the #AFL is hopelessly compromised when it comes to Geelong.
The double standards between the Cowan and Stengle cases are embarrassing for what is supposed to be professional organisation.

The AFL confirms Carlton player Lachlan Cowan has been found guilty of conduct unbecoming and suspended for two matches following an investigation into his use of an illicit substance last weekend and the circumstances in which the matter subsequently became public.
The Carlton Football Club investigated the matter and subsequently provided information to the AFL, which conducted further enquiries.
Cowan has been suspended for the first two home and away matches of 2027 and issued a $5,000 suspended fine.
The matter will also constitute a notifiable adverse finding under the AFL’s Illicit Drugs Policy.
Cowan will be required to undertake further education above the current mandated training on illicit substances and their effects.
“AFL Players have a responsibility to themselves and their professional careers to uphold community expectations. They are well-educated when it comes to the harms associated with the use of illicit substances. Lachlan admitted his mistake and understands he must be accountable for his actions,” AFL COO Tom Harley said.
The AFL’s new illicit drugs policy will come into effect in January 2027 after education sessions with every club and player across November and December.
All players will be hair tested upon their return to training in January, with readings going as far back as three to six months prior.
