A while back, I got into reading vintage news articles about tech. (Everyone needs a hobby.) History is cool/fun/weird. Now I'm doing the obvious thing and starting a newsletter: wearelivinginthefuture.com/p…

Illustrations by Betty Debnam, creator of The Mini Page, a syndicated newspaper supplement for kids. These are from a 1982 issue titled “Hello Computer.”

In this week's newsletter: online dating in the 1960s: wearelivinginthefuture.com/p…

1984 headline: “Students learn bits and bytes can lead to ethical questions.”

Also in this week's newsletter: 1980s video games whose protagonists were (gasp!) girls.

In this week's newsletter: space shrimp.

Anyway check it out would love to hear what you think!

The idea is to collect interesting tech news from the previous week, but from history. So, like, July 18-24, but in 1961, 1962, etc. (Except I messed up this first one and pulled some articles from June, so.)

I made a thing!

I haven’t tweeted in a couple of years, but this one is worth it. Shout out to the people who actually made the thing: @hapticdata @alexanderchen @cleezybear @yotammann and @luisa_ph. Congrats!
