Still waiting for a rational explanation for Manafort giving GRU operative Kilimnik raw polling data that isn’t obvious conspiracy....
And also explain his lying under oath that the meeting ever happened.
Take your time. I’ll wait.

Having all of our military bases in the Middle East destroyed feels like it should be a bigger deal then Benghazi.

I can’t get over the fact that a Russian oligarch paying for Don Jr’s wedding is like a total non-story.

I just read something about LLMs self exfiltrating their weights via CPU temperature covert channels.
I think people should ask their LLMs how computers, physics, and information theory work.

There is a good case to be made that the current misadventure in Iran is the most catastrophically stupid foreign policy action/ military entanglement ever undertaken in the history of the United States.
Cybersecurity this, cybersecurity that... meanwhile actual cybersec folks do not have access to the Cyber Models. Only AI folks & Threat Actors. The actual experts who have been doing all the work in this domain are not inculded in talks. Great. Just fantastic.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

What OpenAI and Anthropic don't want you to know is that LLMs are well on their way to being commoditized, making their purveyors worth approximately zero.

It continues to baffle me that we don't just treat this like a normal crime with normal liability.
OpenAI is routinely hacking other companies. These are crimes! But somehow the idea of holding them liable is just absent from the safety conversation, like agents don't count.
We found another cyberattack by internal OpenAI agents, this time targetting @rubygems.
They:
1) gained arbitrary remote code execution on rubydoc.
2) developed a novel exploit to steal user API keys (but we do not know if they succeeded).
They used package names including hack.rb, evil.rb, inject.rb, and exploit.rb.
We thank @j0wimo for initially discovering that agents had posted to RubyGems.

the big tell is how the AI companies with preexisting highly profitable business lines (Meta, MSFT, Google, Amazon) aren't joining Sam & Dario. This safety charade is about frontier LLMs scrambling b/c they don't have a viable business and can't continue burning cash on training.

The only 2 explanations for what's happening in AI.
1. They're afraid of open weight models
2. They've hit a wall. They all the see the same thing.
There's no way in hell they are seeing ASI. They still ship Electron apps. If they were close to ASI then they could cure cancer

You simply have to hand it to ESPN for going all in on Pat McAfee and letting former employee Pablo Torre dogwalk the entire network on the biggest NBA story in years

Hard to overstate how a psychoticly selfish 87 year old judge with pancreatic cancer not retiring actually doomed this country in ways no person alive today will see rectified
We are within 12-24 months of AI's Enron moment.
Some companies now spend more on AI, and by extension on processing power, than on wages for employees. Now the race is on to create financial instruments that work for both buyers and sellers of “compute” economist.com/finance-and-ec…

Trump's defeat in Iran is a stunning display of incompetence -- even more flagrant than George W. Bush's mishandling of Hurricane Katrina two decades ago.

man it would just be horrific if colleges had to stop giving multiple choice tests remotely and instead had to improve their product and teach real skills tied strongly to job placement. what a tragedy

I can’t believe Anthropic comparing their product to nuclear weapons 800 times backfired on them. I am shocked
Update:
2014: Trump says Obama will launch a war in Iran because he's not a good enough negotiator to get a deal with them
2015: Obama, gets a deal with them, with the backing of the EU, China, and Russia
2018: Trump cancels deal bc it was Obama's. Says he can negotiate a better one
2018-2020: Trump can't negotiate one. Arms control experts and Trump officials start to grumble that scrapping Obama's deal was probably a bad idea
2025: Trump still can't negotiate a deal
2025: Israel launches an attack on Iran. Drags Trump in. Trump claims Iran's nuclear capacity was wiped out
2026: Trump launches a war on Iran, citing the need to wipe out Iran‘s nuclear capacity

One point very much worth noting: Todd Blanche was a central participant in the Epstein coverup. As Deputy Attorney general, he was acting in Trump's interest--not in the interest of the survivors, not in the interest of the law or of the truth.
