James Talarico (aka Talafreako) wants open borders in Texas. He voted against bills funding border barriers/walls (including HB 9 in 2021, with hundreds of millions for barriers as part of ~$1.8 billion for Operation Lone Star, and SB 3 in 2023 with ~$1.54 billion for barrier infrastructure). He voted against bills making illegal entry a state crime and authorizing arrests/removals (various versions of SB 4). He voted against creating a Texas Border Protection Unit and other enforcement/infrastructure measures (HB 7, expanded Border Patrol authority bills, and SB 8 requiring larger counties to enter 287(g) agreements so local law enforcement could assist ICE).
