Should you include a progress bar in your onboarding experience?

This is something young product and UX people get wrong all the time. Users are good at describing pain, but notoriously poor at articulating solutions. I cringe when product people say: "we just went to users and asked them what they wanted."
Bill Hader on receiving feedback: "when people tell you something is wrong, they're usually right. when they tell you how to fix it, they're usually wrong."

Three thoughts on @browsercompany 's Arc after using it for 2 weeks: 1. You can do everything with a keyboard When you spend as much time on the computer as I do, staying on the keyboard is a big deal. Arc nails this with their new tab experience and educational tooltips.

3. The command bar is fantastic It's interesting to see a return to the command line. But today they're intelligent and it was really smart to put it in the new tab experience.
