More California kids will now have access to hearing aids. 🙌👇
SB 331 mandates coverage of hearing aids in large group health plans to ensure kids receive timely access, helping many of the more than 8,000 deaf and hard of hearing kids in California that currently don’t have access to hearing aids through their health insurance. Thank you Governor @GavinNewsom for signing SB 331 into law and @SenatorMenjivar for your leadership in getting this bill across the finish line. 🫶

California parents will now know the ingredients used to make the diapers their kids wear every day. 🙌👇
Through The Children's Movement, 333 organizations collectively urged Governor Newsom to sign AB 1901 and require diaper manufacturers to list all intentionally-added ingredients. Today, AB 1901 was signed into law and California kids are now better protected from harmful chemicals in diapers! Thank you Governor @GavinNewsom for standing with California families and @AsmMarcBerman for your leadership in getting this bill across the finish line. 🫶

Huge win for children's dental health across California!
California kids will now have more help to fight cavities. 🙌👇
Fluoride varnish helps prevent cavities and AB 350 will allow more kids in commercial health plans under 21 in primary care settings and kids in Medi-Cal to get it at school and other settings by letting those working for or under contract with a Medi-Cal doctor or dentist to apply fluoride varnish and get reimbursed. Thank you, Governor @GavinNewsom for signing AB 350 into law and Asm. @MiaBonta for your leadership in getting this bill across the finish line. 🫶

California just took a major step forward in making AI safer for kids. 🙌
Yesterday we were proud to join @CAgovernor as he signed into law a package of bills that make kids' interactions with AI and online safer. That includes "Adam's Law" (SB 1119 - Padilla, Wicks, Bauer-Kahan), requiring chatbots to pass independent safety audits and connect kids to crisis support, SB 867 (Padilla), suspending the sale of AI-enabled toys for 4 years while California determines the best safety standards, and AB 2246 (Wicks), updating the California Age Appropriate Design Code to protect children under 18 from online experiences that endanger them. 💪
Thank you Governor Newsom, @SenStevePadilla, @AsmBuffyWicks, @BauerKahan, and the California Legislature for taking this bold action to protect our kids. This is a victory for California kids and marks a clearer path forward to making AI safer for our children. 🫶

AB 181 finally establishes a sensible system of state-level educational accountability - a monumental victory for California students.👇
Thank you @CAgovernor for your leadership in prioritizing kids and signing this education budget trailer bill into law. And thank you @AlvarezSD and @AsmDarshana for championing this much-needed governance reform.
Too often, a divided system has meant no one is fully focused on day-to-day implementation of education programs. Now, it will be clear who is ultimately accountable for getting results. That clarity is a win for equity and for the long-term success of every student in California. 🙌

Yesterday was a celebration of hard work, persistence, and most importantly, the future of California students.👇
We were honored to stand beside @CAgovernor at yesterday's announcement of historic investments in California schools and students. Thank you Governor for your leadership in prioritizing kids and signing AB 126, the education trailer bill for the California state budget that allocated an additional $2.4 billion for special education funding. This legislation builds on billions invested to expand access to universal transitional kindergarten, record investments in community schools, and building out our pipeline of new teachers. This continues a strong commitment to equity and the long-term success for all California students. 🙌

🧑🎓 The approval of education governance reform is a monumental victory for California's students. 🙌
For over a century, split leadership and blurred responsibility in California’s education system have made it difficult for students to get quick and effective support when they need it. Now, after last night's vote, we can finally move forward with a sensible and effective system that helps schools deliver results for their students. 👩🎓 👨🎓
Earlier this year, Children Now President @tedlempert addressed California's leaders on the vital importance of education governance reform. We commend @CAgovernor for his leadership in making this much needed change a reality, and @MoniqueLimonCA, @CASpeakerRivas, @AsmDarshana, and the entire California legislature for yesterday's pivotal vote. We now look forward to working to ensure effective implementation of this governance change and using it as a building block to make numerous other improvements that will put California students in the best position to thrive. 💪

California committing to “Medi-Cal for All Children” a decade ago was a powerful promise. Today, it's in danger of being broken.
In the year since President Trump took office nearly 225,000 fewer kids were enrolled in Medi-Cal, and that number will almost certainly grow as new federal policies take effect. Make sure kids get housing support and join the new Children's Movement campaign TODAY! 🙋🏽♀️ 🙋🏿 🙋🏼♂️ 👉 bit.ly/44dWD07
Right now, California is moving forward with the biggest housing investment in a decade - $10 billion to build affordable housing across the state. And it doesn’t dedicate a single dollar to housing kids.
The Children's Movement is fighting to change this. By ensuring California's $10 billion housing investment includes dedicated funds for kids, community organizations that serve children will get funds directly and less kids across the state will struggle to find a safe place to sleep. 🫶
The Children’s Movement is more than 6,200 organizations strong. Add your organization and join this campaign TODAY. Let’s stand together and make sure kids get housing support. 👉 bit.ly/44dWD07
