As some of you know, I have a trans son. I think it’s fine to thoughtfully debate whether trans girls can be in girls sports.
Not debatable: Transgenderism is real & stirring up hatred against a minority community for political gain is despicable.
That’s what this is. Period.
The Gaetz nod is a lose-lose for Democrats and all thinking people. If he's confirmed, we get the world's biggest creep as AG. If not, we wind up with someone less clownish but equally vindictive and more effective. And Hegseth/Gabbard will be confirmed while we all debate Gaetz.
I think if you’ve convinced yourself that “Yale is no different from Hamas…potentially even more dangerous” — while also being a Gaza war maximalist who would unrepentantly let every Gazan civilian die in hopes of eliminating Hamas — it’s fair to say you’ve lost the plot.
A friend was asked to write a recommendation for his daughter who is applying to Yale. Worth a read.
Dear ,
I am unwilling to write a letter of recommendation in support of your daughter's application to Yale. I no longer do that. It is not that I don't believe that she is qualified, on the contrary it is because I do.
You wouldn't ask me to write a letter of recommendation for her admission to Hamas. But Yale is no different than Hamas, a cult that abides no disagreement, and a cult certain of its purpose and mission beyond reflection. Yale is potentially even more dangerous. Hamas will be defeated shortly. Yale will continue to send its graduates into positions of power for years.
A recent study at Harvard found that roughly 50% of the students and professors wouldn't discuss "uncomfortable" topics. An essential life skill is the ability to change your mind. She won't learn that at any Ivy league school. Their reputations are still so strong that their faculty, staff and graduates all possess the arrogant certainty of religious fanatics.
I am sorry to disappoint you. I wish her the best in her search for a school,
Signed

My belief, as a proud American Jew whose family lives mainly in Israel, is that a very substantial portion of the Israeli population has been radicalized into virulent anti-Arab hate, and the consequences of this will be just as painful for Israelis as they will be for Arabs.
If you’re feeling like giving up, or like we should let these people reap what they’ve sown, watch this. The abhorrent nature of it just might reinvigorate you. They are intolerable and must be stopped, and I know there are enough of us to stop them, even if it takes a while.
What happens when an entire political party loses the plot and becomes exclusively focused on denying/unraveling the achievements of its rivals?
Pretty major from a guy who’s played footsie with going on-the-record with this stuff for 7 years and nearly always decided not to.
Former Trump chief of staff John Kelly says Trump "falls into the general definition of a fascist, "certainly prefers the dictator approach," and has "all but rejected what America is all about." The NYT has published the audio >>> nytimes.com/2024/10/22/us/po…

President @BarackObama: He’s selling a Trump Bible. He wants you to buy the Word of God, Donald Trump edition. He’s got his name right there next to Matthew and Luke. Who does that? Trump does that. And the reason he does it is because all he cares about is his ego, not you
This is, obviously, laughable, except it’s not funny because no mayor in living history has has less pity for the accused and more blind faith in the NYPD, who very often arrest and even kill on far thinner evidence than what I’m sure we’re about to get on Adams.
"I always knew that if I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target — and a target I became. If I am charged, I am innocent and will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit," @NYCMayor says in response to indictment news.

I believe almost any other political campaign would handle a staffer getting into a physical beef with a cemetery worker at Arlington as an embarrassment and a disciplinary matter, but for the Trump campaign it’s an opportunity to reinforce their overall fascist aesthetic.
And a Jew to boot! 🎉

Four years later, I’ve (for real this time) never been prouder to be able to say I have the honor and privilege of working with the great @jomalleydillon and @stefcutter.
Two Obama-campaign friends and I co-founded a company 7 years ago. I’ve been humbled, delighted, only sometimes exhausted, always proud to be their partner ever since. But I’ve never been prouder than this week to be associated with @stefcutter and @jomalleydillon.
