Full-stack dev, backend focused and geospatial expert. Working with Python, Ruby, and Go. Building themes and plugins for my @Omarchy computer setup.

Geospatial backend-leaning developer | Upstate SC Prefer remote, open to hybrid in Upstate SC or lower WNC. 20+ years in land development (heavy equipment → civil design → land survey CAD). Last 15 years focused on LiDAR, photogrammetry processing, and building the workflows that make CAD and GIS systems actually communicate between survey and civil engineering teams. I want more code and systems work than pure drafting, but I can still handle map production when needed. Stack agnostic. Looking for geospatial or backend roles where the domain depth is useful.

Of all the @Windows slop software, @MicrosoftTeams is the absolute worst. Why do companies insist on using this garbage program? There are so many better options.

I want to meet the people behind the X usernames. Your background, what you're working on, what excites you, and what brought you to Omarchy, AI, linux and tech in general. Complete beginners, seasoned devs, AI experts, or folks who installed linux yesterday are all welcome! Some of the best conversations happen with people from different backgrounds so I want to hear your story, swap ideas, and make some new friends. It's FREE. No sales pitch, no agenda, no expectations. Just 2 folks who share an interest in tech and talking to strangers! LOL! Let's make this community about more than software and get to know the people who make it great. Grab a time slot and let's chat on zoom! (PLS RT!) calendly.com/nixfred

All the doom and gloom from these “tech influencers” is really getting old. We get it, you’re all losing to “AI”. The REAL software engineers aren’t experiencing this.

Career changers: it's okay to feel like an intern again. You spent years becoming an expert at something, and now you're learning what a variable is. That's not starting over, that's starting somewhere new! #Careertips

How cool is this @dhh
Omarchy's production build systems now run on DigitalOcean. 👾 We're joining @dhh's Omacom Foundation as a Founding Corporate Patron and Omarchy's agentic compute provider, donating funding, tokens, and compute credits for three years. Build servers for packaging, agent runners for PR reviews, Droplets for QA testing. 🔗 do.co/4r1cHvJ

Hey @dhh what are the chances we will get a Linux native version of @autodesk Civil 3D or @CarlsonSoftware Survey CAD? That's the only thing keeping me in Windows for work. Can't wait to see what you and the team come up with next, and you've already inspired me to submit my first PR to a project.

Dude, you can just make things. That’s what makes @OmarchyLinux awesome and why so many have fallen in love with it.
Just built my first Omarchy plugin! This also happens to be the first piece of software I've ever made solo entirely with AI. Back-and-forth over English and nothing else. So two firsts for me. Super fun experience. Here's a quick little tour. Hope you dig it.

I’ve been using @heyhey for several months now. It has not been my primary email and calendar, mostly because I have a paid subscription to @ProtonMail with multiple domains. I recently started moving to hey as my primary email and calendar provider and I love it. After being a bullet journalists for a few years, having the ability to digitize that directly in my online calendar is awesome. And now I have the ability to use their CLI with agents to keep everything in order as well. Can’t wait to see some APIs to I can build my own integrations too. Thanks @jasonfried and team, keep up the great work.

The biggest problem with @dhh’s @OmarchyLinux is that it’s so much fun to work in, I don’t want to go back to my job where I’m forced to use Windows eww. I have at least a dozen projects started just from getting Quattro setup. Can’t wait to see what the team comes up with next.

Awesome job to @dhh and all the contributors. Loved this video too, thanks @dhh for a wonderful introduction to Quattro, can’t wait to find all the Easter Eggs.
Omarchy Quattro is out!! This is one of the greatest software releases in my professional career. I hope you enjoy using it just as much as I did building it ✌️ omarchy.org/

I’m personally a fan of @bootdotdev and their learning style but I enjoyed @scrimba too. Might have to give this a try as well. I believe you can always pickup new things even if you’ve gone through a similar program. Don’t worry @wagslane I’m still keeping my boots subscription 😂
New course, Learn Python, is live and free! 🐍 Start from zero and build three real projects along the way: an expense-splitter, a word-scramble game, and a queue manager. You'll get to grips with: - Variables - Strings - F-string formatting - Capturing and converting user input - Arithmetic operators - Type conversion - Lists - Tuples - The random module - While loops - For loops - Comparison operators - Functions - Parameters - Return values Built for anyone who's never written code before.

Did get far on boot.dev tonight. Had to focus some time on a Laravel project for a land survey company. It’s amazing how all the core concepts can easily translate from on language/framework to another. If you’re learning to code, use @bootdotdev and @freeCodeCamp but also, go build projects too.

Finally finished Git 2 by @ThePrimeagen on @bootdotdev Prime is awesome at teaching, course was fun and funny. Wish we could choose some of the funny answers without getting hit lol Thanks @wagslane and team for another great course. Took me longer than expected because I had to stop and do some real work a few days 😬

Highly recommend @nothing ear(3) pods. They are amazing on sound quality and noise cancellation. I don’t even turn the active noise cancellation on most of the time, that’s how great the passive is. Can’t wait to try the headphone (1) out.

Started the git course on boot.dev by @ThePrimeagen Been fun so far and picked up a couple things I didn’t know or really understand. Can’t wait to get through it all. @wagslane can you get @ThePrimeagen to do more courses, he’s awesome 😎 Wouldn’t mind seeing one from @typecraft_dev and TJ too.
