This Day of the Girl Child, I spoke to students with @Tech4DevHQ about STEM, the "tech is for boys" myth and the gender gap.
I had no guide starting out. Now I get to be one.

Supporting more girls to explore STEM also means equipping the teachers who guide their learning every day.
Across the sessions, teachers explored responsible AI use in education, existing skill gaps, the realities that can shape girls’ participation in STEM, and practical ways to create learning environments where girls feel supported to explore, learn, and build their interests.
As they return to their schools, these teachers are better equipped to apply this knowledge in their classrooms, guide girls as they engage with AI and digital skills and encourage more girls to explore opportunities in STEM.
We are grateful to the UK-Nigeria Tech Hub for supporting this initiative, and to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, the Permanent Secretary, our facilitators, and all participating teachers for making the workshop possible.

Building pathways to dignified work for young women in Yobe State. 💚
The TTS Nigeria Programme recently convened a five-day Policy Roundtable and Capacity Building exercise in Yobe State, bringing together government stakeholders, private sector representatives, academia and other key actors to advance inclusive employment opportunities for women.
From assessing facilities for training and BPO operations to developing policy frameworks and strengthening the capacity of implementation stakeholders, each day marked progress towards creating an enabling environment for women to access fulfilling, tech-enabled jobs.
The engagement also secured strong support from the Yobe State Government, with steps towards establishing a steering committee and formalising collaboration to drive implementation.
Because creating access to dignified work takes more than training. It takes the right policies, partnerships, infrastructure and commitment.
Together, we are building a future where more young women in Yobe State can access opportunity and thrive. 🌱

Chisom Nwachukwu once struggled to understand coding. Now, she’s using it to solve real business problems.
When Chisom joined the Women Techsters Fellowship, she had already started teaching herself Mobile App Development, but needed the structure and support to turn what she was learning into practical skills.
That growth eventually led to an internship with a multinational company.
It is a significant shift from where her journey began, and one that shows what can happen when learning moves from simply understanding concepts to being able to apply them.

Empowering Teachers to Inspire the Next Generation of Girls in STEM and AI Literacy!
In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Tech4Dev is championing opportunities for girls to explore technology, build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Through the Tech Girls Drive Teachers Stakeholder Workshop, funded by the @ukngtechhub, we are bringing together selected public secondary school teachers from all educational districts in Lagos State to explore responsible AI use, strengthen inclusive learning environments and identify practical ways to support girls pursuing STEM and digital skills.
The workshop creates an opportunity for educators to share knowledge, reflect on existing challenges and explore practical approaches to making STEM and digital learning more accessible and inclusive for girls.
Together, we can help create learning environments where every girl is encouraged to learn, innovate and reach her full potential.

In continuation of the Tech Girls Drive Advocacy, we visited Ikeja Junior High School and Ikeja Senior High School, Lagos, engaging girls in conversations about STEM, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital skills, and the opportunities available to them.
A big thank you to Beacon Power Services for partnering with us on this engagement and supporting our commitment to reaching and inspiring more girls through the Tech Girls Advocacy Drive.

Through interactive conversations, the girls learned about different career pathways, asked questions, and explored how developing relevant digital skills can prepare them for a future increasingly shaped by technology.
The engagement also went beyond the conversations in the room. Copies of the Tech Girls Squad Handbook were shared with the girls, providing a resource they can continue to engage with as they explore STEM and learn more about the possibilities available to them.
Today, we are bringing the conversation closer to where skills meet opportunity.
As part of the North-Central iDice Skills to Job Programme, we will be engaging FCT stakeholders and HR professionals in collaboration with Abuja Enterprise Agency.
We aim to explore how industry needs, talent development and employment opportunities can better align to create pathways into work.
