Building pathways to dignified work for young women in Yobe State. 💚
The TTS Nigeria Programme recently convened a five-day Policy Roundtable and Capacity Building exercise in Yobe State, bringing together government stakeholders, private sector representatives, academia and other key actors to advance inclusive employment opportunities for women.
From assessing facilities for training and BPO operations to developing policy frameworks and strengthening the capacity of implementation stakeholders, each day marked progress towards creating an enabling environment for women to access fulfilling, tech-enabled jobs.
The engagement also secured strong support from the Yobe State Government, with steps towards establishing a steering committee and formalising collaboration to drive implementation.
Because creating access to dignified work takes more than training. It takes the right policies, partnerships, infrastructure and commitment.
Together, we are building a future where more young women in Yobe State can access opportunity and thrive. 🌱

Sometimes, you already have something valuable to offer. You just need the clarity to see it differently.
For Onome Precious, the training helped her look at her skills, her services and the kind of problems she can help customers solve from a new perspective.
She learned how to present herself and what she offers, communicate with customers, and understand where her skills can create value. Along the way, she gained a clearer sense of where she wants to take her career and the skills she needs to move it forward.
That clarity matters because when you understand what you can offer, it becomes easier to recognize the opportunities that fit you and prepare yourself for them.
Onome’s story is a reminder that sometimes, moving forward starts with seeing your own skills differently.

What can change when you are given the chance to learn, practice and understand where your skills can take you?
At the HYT × TTS Nigeria Program Employability Bootcamp, young women built practical skills through training designed around the abilities and behaviors needed in real workplaces.
They worked on communication skills, workplace confidence and other practical skills for technology enabled, technology adjacent and sales roles. Their abilities were also assessed to understand where they could best fit with current employer needs.
For some, it meant learning something new. For others, it meant seeing skills they already had in a different way. The goal was to help them find roles where those skills can be put to dignified work..

The next phase of opportunity starts with understanding what is already here and what can be built from it.
In Yobe, we will be engaging state stakeholders around the priorities, opportunities and conditions that can strengthen pathways into work and support the growth of Nigeria's Technology Talent Outsourcing ecosystem.
This is about listening, aligning and identifying what can move the opportunity forward.
Yobe, we look forward to the conversation.

Every girl’s dreams, voice and choices matter.
Every girl deserves to learn, grow, feel safe and have the freedom to decide what her future looks like.
As we mark the International Day of the Girl Child, we stand for a world that protects girls’ rights, ends child marriage and invests in their futures.
Let girls be girls. Let them learn, let them lead and let them choose.

Building a BPO ecosystem takes more than talent.
It takes the right environment for that talent to thrive.
During our recent engagement in Borno State, the TTS Nigeria team met with stakeholders, explored facilities identified for potential
BPO operations and held conversations around what it would take to strengthen the state’s readiness for the sector.
We looked beyond the training room to understand the wider ecosystem needed to support BPO operations, develop industry-ready talent and create pathways into dignified employment.
The State-Level Policy Roundtable brought government, private sector and other stakeholders together to discuss the policies, infrastructure, skills and systems that can help make this possible.
For Borno, the opportunity is significant. With the right foundations in place, the state can strengthen its capacity to prepare young people, including young women, for work and connect them to opportunities in the growing global services economy.
These pictures capture some of the people, places and conversations that shaped the engagement.
