Q: Does anyone have a standard noncompete laying around that you'd be willing to send over?
I have a mentee who needs a sample for a class and I don't have one handy.
It would be much appreciated. 💖
Is anyone going to the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh?
I'm on the host committee so I will be there the whole time.
Moltbook! Who is watching the interactions on there?
Does anyone else get the sinking feeling of impending doom?
Sorry to be like this but aren't humans what's wrong with the world?

Not me playing with my kid's 3d printer because I can't sleep at 2am 😭

Depositing my check from my corporate board meeting is something that I always stop to appreciate. I am so proud of how far I have come so far in the last 5 years despite all of the hurdles.

Someone posted on Instagram that I "clearly have never been raped". Instagram's response...
But bans hashtags like #saltwater and #popular 😵💫
Ugh.

I visited Pittsburgh for the first time near the end of 2024 and loved it.
Beautiful city, great energy and comparatively far less social blight than I've seen in other cities.
The CVS downtown didn't have everything behind glass - my own version of the urban blight Big Mac index.
Long Pittsburgh 🚀
It's also home to some of my favourite moots:

Literally my dad (but in 1982)
Despite the immaculate vibes, Pittsburgh was not doing well. Unemployment in Pittsburgh was 17%, almost the worst ever in history for a major city (only the pandemic and Detroit in 2009 were worse)
There were no jobs. A generation of young people left. Though my parents loved Pittsburgh, we had to leave too (but were able to come back a few years later).
The comeback has been great though. Pittsburgh is the rare example of a post-industrial city that actually diversified successfully.
From that 17% in 1983, Pittsburgh's unemployment is now 3.5%, among the lowest in the country.
A lot the transformation has been driven by Pitt and CMU. There are 7 unicorns (more than Miami!), 5 of them are AI companies (Skild AI, Abridge, Stack AV, Gecko Robotics, Aurora). Old factories that were vacant for decades have literally became robotics labs and Google offices.
The photos below:
LTV Coke works, formerly employing 12,000 people, now housing CMU robotics labs
An old Ford factory that made Model T's, now a cancer research center.
A small part of a steel mill where they serviced train engines (remember those things were vertically integrated), now a coworking space
Lots of cool adaptive reuse in Pittsburgh for people who love that sort of thing (like me!) - check it out!
Stayed after to chat with some of the guys from @Nvidia and @CaterpillarInc on the risks of vibecoding and how it will affect the vc landscape?
What do you think?
