Minnesota head coach PJ Fleck on the NIL disparity between the Gophers and Michigan: "Too small, too short, too slow, too young, too inexperienced. T-O-O. Nah, that’s never bothered me. I’ve always felt like my job is to do more with less, and not less in a bad way. We have resources here. My job as a head football coach is never to ‘B-C-D’ it: blame, complain, ever. That’s why you’re the head coach. Figure it out. And my job is to maximize the resources you have." on3.com/nil/news/pj-fleck-ad…

This is whay head coaches should do. Take accountability for the actions of the team. No excuses, fix problems and sometimes the problem is you.
This is how every fucking coach should be

The game is won in the box and in the trenches. The @Bengals offensive line is struggling in particular OBJ who is a human false start turnstile of a left tackle and on defense we refuse to cover a tight end or slot receiver. Teams live throwing the seam route on them. – at Taylor Creek, OH

Parents, here's what a Division I baseball player looks like right now. AGE In 2022, the average D1 player was 20.1 years old. By 2024, it was 21.9. That's almost two years older in two seasons. The transfer portal, extra eligibility years, and roster limits have D1 programs filling spots with experienced college players instead of high school recruits. SIZE The starters in the 2024 College World Series finals averaged: Height: about 6'1½" Weight: 204 lbs In 2024, they averaged nearly 210 lbs. PLAYING TIME Freshmen now play barely 10% of Division I innings. So when someone tells you your 5'10", 165-pound high school junior is "definitely D1," ask yourself who he'd be competing against: a 22-year-old, 210-pound college veteran. That doesn't mean your son can't get there. It means the path might run through D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO first, where he can play, get bigger, get stronger, and move up. Know the numbers. Plan accordingly. Coach Drew

FAFSA opened today, and I'II say this LOUD 🗣️ If you aren’t jumping at this, you’re leaving money on the table, even if you think you won't qualify. Only FBS football gives full rides. (2% of athletes are on a full ride) Everyone else is piecing together partial athletic money + need based aid. And DIII? Zero athletic scholarships. It's all merit + need. To put it to you simply, no FAFSA = no package. Seniors, don't skip this.

The FAFSA for the 2027-28 school year opens to everyone by October 1, and the beta is already open now at studentaid.gov, where a beta submission counts as your real filing. If your son is a senior, file early: some state and school aid is first-come, first-served and runs out. This form is free, and skipping it is the most expensive thing a family can do this fall.

Parents, your son is playing football on Friday nights right now College coaches are in the stands. Some of them your son doesn't even know about. Here is what they are watching beyond the game: How does he warm up? Is he locked in or goofing around? What does he do on the sideline when he is not in the game? How does he respond when a coach gets on him? Does he pick up a teammate after a bad play? What does he do after a loss?

Every high school athlete wants to go D1, but every kid isn't prepared to do what it takes. You MUST work hard in the classroom, study film, study yourself for areas to improve, eat right and what is needed to be at the proper weight and live in the weightroom! Talk is cheap! – at New Baltimore, OH

Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium has stood since 1954. This season, a storm sewer overflow forced the @RBSpartans out of their own field, games moved, practices scrambled, routines thrown off. Tonight, they're back on a brand new GAME ON field. Welcome home, Spartans!

There is a difference between watching film and studying the film. Some coaches to this day just watch film. Teach your kids how to study the film. Every advantage matters. – at New Baltimore, OH

Parents/players need to take the blinders off and look at the landscape of college athletics. Your job as a parent is to keep it real with your kids. You may be a dog on your summer team, but every dad is coaching a summer team. It's watered down. Be a dog on your school team! – at Taylor Creek, OH
I just got off the phone with the mother of a 2027 player. Zero offers. She told me her son is a D1 player. I told her the truth. Power 4 and Power 5 D1 programs want older, more physically mature players. That is not an opinion. That is how college baseball works in 2026. I told her his path may need to start at a D3 program. She was insulted. So I explained something that most families do not understand. D3 is not little league. Because of roster reductions, NIL, and the transfer portal — genuinely elite players are now choosing D3 programs to develop, get playing time, build a college baseball resume, and transfer to a Power 4 or Power 5 program. Some of them are getting paid to do it. That is not a consolation prize. That is a strategy. And it is the most realistic path for a 2027 player with D1 ability who is not yet physically where Power 4 coaches need him to be. She hung up on me. I have been doing this for 28 years. I will tell you the truth even when you do not want to hear it. The parents who listen are the ones whose sons play college baseball. The parents who hang up find out in March there is nothing left. — Coach Drew | 315-440-9755 phase2recruiting.netlify.app
