.@MrsCto asked me a question today that changed how I think about Layer 2C: “What if the company isn’t enterprise IT research?” I’ve spent the last year building Layer 2C in public. The methodologies, prompts, skills, software, evidence controls, assessments, and labs are largely there for anyone to see. I assumed I was building a better way to do technology research. Lab 015 made me question that assumption. I moved the Layer 2C methodology onto @KamiwazaAI and showed that another analyst could operate the workflow while the evidence and methodology remained controlled. In other words: Keith didn’t have to be the execution environment. That matters because @TheCTOAdvisor ultimately scales with me. Layer 2C potentially doesn’t. The IP may not be my research on enterprise technology. The IP may be the machinery for turning expert judgment into a repeatable, auditable system. Today, that machinery is pointed at enterprise IT because that’s what I know. But what happens if you replace my expertise and canon with those of an expert in insurance, manufacturing, healthcare, or finance? Same machinery. Different domain. Different expert judgment. That’s potentially a very different company. I build out loud, so there’s no secret here. If I’ve thought of this, someone else probably has too. The difference is that I’ve already built it, tested it, and shown my work.
