Our airports are on the table for privatization, and Ford's response is to pitch his takeover of the Toronto Islands. Not a word about travellers or airport workers. Just another run at one of the last public spaces every family in this city can afford. Toronto said no. He's trying again anyway.
NEW: Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s office has responded to Prime Minister Carney’s plans to open major airports to privatization — pitching downtown Billy Bishop airport (which the feds have said they would not expand for now) as the ‘perfect’ project. Full statement: #onpoli

Ontario's new subway cars: built in Maryland.
Our highway maintenance: Texas.
Our teachers' supplies: Staples.
You awarded $140M at Mississauga's new hospital to a U.S. firm and sent WSIB work to Boston.
Premier, if Buy Ontario is the law, you're breaking it.
NEW: The Ford government is warning municipalities that if they don’t follow “buy Ontario” procurement policies they could be cut off from provincial funding:
“Failure to comply with Buy Ontario requirements will force us to reconsider provincial
funding made available to municipalities, in addition to other consequences.”

#BREAKING: Doug Ford is the least popular premier in Canada, according to a new Angus Reid Institute poll released this month.
Ford's approval sits at 31 per cent, the lowest of all nine premiers surveyed. Manitoba's Wab Kinew leads at 63 per cent. Every other premier in the country outranks him.
The poll comes after 20 Toronto-area PC MPPs billed taxpayers more than $120,000 for hotel stays, after Doug Ford was caught buying a $28.9 million jet, and after his government handed every teacher's classroom supply card exclusively to American-owned Staples while telling Ontarians to buy Ontario.
The Ontario legislature has been on break since June 2.

Scarborough Southwest has elected Fatima Shaban as their next MPP. A voice from this community, for this community, joining Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP to make life more affordable and get Scarborough its fair share.
Congratulations, Fatima. Let's go get it.

Matt has lived in Scarborough for 16 years, and he says the Ontario Liberal Party is in a state of disarray. Here's why he's voting for Fatima Shaban this time.

I asked Doug Ford to recall the legislature so Ontario can fight back against Donald Trump’s tariffs. He called that “gutter politics.”
Here is my response:

Fifteen years ago today, we lost Jack Layton.
Everywhere I go, people still bring Jack up with me. Nearly every day. He lives on. His message lives on, in New Democrats, in the party he built, and in everyone in this country who keeps choosing hope and optimism in the face of everything this moment throws at us.
“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.”
Miss you, Jack. We’re still at it.

Thank you to the residents at PAL for inviting me over to meet all of you this weekend!
Many PAL residents are deeply concerned about the threats posed by Ford's Billy Bishop Airport expansion plans to our waterfront communities. As longtime artists and champions of the arts, they have helped shape Toronto's cultural landscape and they, alongside their waterfront neighbours, deserve to live peacefully without blaring jets flying overhead.
I cannot stress this enough: this airport expansion is reckless, dangerous, and benefits no one who actually lives in Toronto. We cannot allow Ford to tear up our waterfront to line the pockets of JP Morgan and American bankers.
Visit kristynwongtam.ca/stop-fords… to join the growing number of Torontonians fighting to protect our waterfront, and contact your local Toronto Liberal MP to make your voice heard! 🌊

🔊LISTEN: Nearly 200 wildfires burning. Communities destroyed. First Nations leaders demanding a public inquiry. But when Ford's emergency minister faced hard questions on CBC, her own staff jumped in, live on air, and shut the interview down.

Ontario's Minister of Emergency Preparedness went on CBC to answer questions about the wildfire response. Nine minutes in, she let her own staff jump in, live on air, and end the interview for her. Ontarians don't walk away when things get hard. Neither should Ford's ministers.

Here's what Ford doesn't want you to know about the devastating fires across Northern Ontario
Bravo @MayorOliviaChow for taking action to protect Toronto residents from surveillance pricing.
It’s time to end this predatory practice before it becomes normalized - yet another daily digital injustice.
So far, the Carney government has promised vague action in the future, from a new agency that doesn’t even exist yet.
Instead, we need a national ban on surveillance pricing right now. That’s what Premier @WabKinew has done in Manitoba, what NDP premiers in waiting like @MaritStiles and @ChenderClaudia are fighting for, and what Mayor Chow is proposing.
Your personal data should be yours alone, not a commodity for Big Tech and Big Retail to mine, sell, and use to rip you off.

This year marks the 43rd anniversary of the Black July pogroms in Sri Lanka. From July 23 to July 30, 1983, state-sponsored anti-Tamil violence swept across the island, killing over 3,000 people, destroying countless homes and family businesses, and displacing up to 150,000 Tamils in that single week alone.
Through attending events and spending time with the Tamil community over the past several years, I learned a great deal about the lasting impacts of Tamil oppression and the structural ways state-sponsored violence and genocide have sought to tear the community apart. Through it all, I have also witnessed the incredible resilience of the Tamil community in the face of adversity, and their determination to grow through the struggles together.
I will continue to extend my solidarity and reaffirm my commitment, alongside my fellow New Democrats, to stand side by side with the Tamil community in their pursuit of justice and accountability, alongside reiterating our call for the United Nations to launch an investigation into the Tamil Genocide.
As we witness the devastating global impacts of genocide, oppression, and violence, we must remain committed to confronting discrimination and standing against genocide, wherever it may occur across the world. May we never forget 1983.

Stan Cho who lives in Toronto and owns at least 4 properties, including his home. He knew he didn't qualify for a housing allowance because he lives just less than 6 km from Queen's Park. But this grifter tries to stick $16K of luxury hotel stays to Ontario taxpayers anyways.
