Our Armed Forces protect and defend our freedom every day of every year.
Much of that service we do not see and take for granted.
This #ArmedForcesDay we say thank you to every soldier, sailor and aviator, and their families, who represent the very best of this country 🇬🇧
ALT As part of armed Forces Week and ahead of Armed Forces Day 2023, The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak visited Wellington Barracks in London to speak with Soldiers from the Household Division in His Majesty's armed forces.
The new emergency alert system which has been introduced to the UK has been around for a while in the testing phase. As one who has been experiencing test alerts from HM Government since last January, I don't understand as to why people are worried about this being introduced.
Countries such as the US and Canada regularly utilise this system and have for years. If such an event were to occur which would require an emergency alert, how would people be alerted. Not as many people use TVs now and majority of modern day society has access to a mobile.
The Government are unable to gather any data from it. From what I am aware of, alerts are sent to signal towers of your mobile provider who relay the alert to compatible devices. For anyone who wants to see an example of a test alert see the video below.
