Two months. 110,000 jobs gone.
Statistics Canada says employment fell by 41,700 in August and 68,300 in September.
Young people took the biggest hit. Employment for 15- to 24-year-olds fell for a second straight month, and youth unemployment is at 13%.
The share of Canadians working or looking for work dropped to 64.8%, the lowest since 1997 outside the pandemic. StatCan says that's largely because the population is aging.
Two bad months in a row. October's numbers land November 6.

It cannot be understated: our broken immigration system has caused high unemployment, high home prices and high inflation. It must be fixed and provincial rights strengthened.
Today, the Prime Minister got a copy of our referendum questions including the 9 on immigration and constitutional reforms. If Albertans give us a strong mandate on these questions, our government will get right to work on these needed reforms.
