We’ve expanded security support for Six Labors libraries! Each major remains eligible for security updates for 12 months after its successor’s first stable release, giving teams more time to upgrade. sixlabors.com/posts/security… #dotnet

This started with a user who couldn’t upgrade because another dependency was blocking them. I wanted to give them a way forward that I could sustain. We now have longer security support and community keys that open-source projects can share with contributors. #dotnet #oss

Looking at ImageSharp's NuGet statistics over the last six weeks, I was surprised to see that over 95% of downloads across the versions I examined were still for v3. I understand that upgrading isn't always straightforward, particularly when applications depend on other libraries that haven't caught up. But maintaining older versions indefinitely simply isn't sustainable for a small independent software company. ImageSharp 3.x has reached end-of-life, and security fixes are now focused on v4. If you're still using v3, please consider upgrading. Continued development, security maintenance, and support all depend on a sustainable licensing model.

A lot of the unsafe I see in the wild is trivially incorrect It should be a rare tool used only when absolutely necessary and with very careful consideration You can often get peak perf without unsafe. Inversely, unsafe trivially causes bugs which invalidate stated perf gains

100% of unsafe code is safe when used safely, but the difficulty is in using it safely So by using unsafe and not upholding the required invariants, you’re fundamentally measuring the wrong thing and comparing apples to zebras — any stated perf is irrelevant because it’s wrong

Many of the most common anti-patterns (bugs) end up writing are documented here, but note it’s not every possible bad practice Reading and referencing it as part of both writing/reviewing unsafe code should be a bare minimum, including for an LLM/agent learn.microsoft.com/en-us/do…

NuGet.org's "Per day average" download stat can be way off from reality We're looking at replacing it with a trailing-window metric Which download stats do you actually rely on, and which mislead you? Weigh in 👇 github.com/NuGet/NuGetGaller…

The upcoming release of System.Text.Json sees a swath of new features focusing on C# and F# union support, JSONL, and further narrowing the functional gap between reflection and the source generator: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/do… #dotnet

C# FTW again github.com/devmobasa/ttfx Against Python up to 140x faster! Against Rust from 0.3.3 version that DHH referenced here up to 2.12x Since you don't like Rust, you can just port it to a much prettier language like C#, and no need to sacrifice performance. C# on Linux has been such a bliss. So good, and so fast. For bash-like scripts, tools, CLIs, services, apps.
I ported the Omarchy screensaver engine (ttfx) from Rust to x86-64 assembler, and it's up to 17x faster!! One-shot translation by Opus 5.5. We keep drilling until the agentic drill bit hits bedrock! github.com/omacom/ttfx/pull/…

Union types. In this One Dev Question, Mads Torgersen explains how C# will let you model a closed set of unrelated types, create union values from them, and switch over them in a fully strongly typed way. It lands (cont) msft.it/l/6012ak7tj

Reminder that .NET 8 and .NET 9 go end-of-life and out of support in November this year (2026). That's 3 months away. You should be moving to .NET 10 or an upcoming .NET 11 RC/GA release ASAP.
