YouTube channel hijacks are on the rise again, it seems. Three Creators I know have been hit this month and had their channels hijacked and stolen.
DO THIS NOW!
Get all of this information and put it somewhere safe that you can quickly access in event of a hijacking.
👉 Full Channel URL: Must be the standard format (e.g., ://youtube.com), not a custom /c/ or legacy /user/ URL.
👉 Channel ID and Handle: Your unique channel identifier and @username handle.
👉 Recovery Email and Phone Number: The original recovery contacts (or a fresh, uncompromised Gmail address you created for YouTube support to communicate with you).
👉 Recent Video ID: The ID or link to a video you recently published on the channel.
👉 IP Address: Your approximate or specific IP address active around the time the hack occurred.
👉 Timestamp of the Hack: The approximate date and time the unauthorized takeover happened.
👉 Pre-Hack Screenshots: Images or proof of your channel name, banner, or dashboard before it was altered.
👉 Description of the Incident: A clear summary of how the compromise happened (for example, a phishing link, fake sponsor email, or stolen session cookie)
If your YouTube channel is hijacked, use the link I'll post here to fill out the hijacked channel recovery form, which will ask for the above information to get the recovery process moving quickly.

Most creators hire too quickly and fire too slowly. There are two common ways we observe this phenomenon.
We'll use video editing as an example:
Scenario 1: A creator is burnt out and working nonstop. What was once a highly creative outlet has turned into a chore. So they hop onto their favorite gig site and outsource to the first decently rated and inexpensive person they can find. Sometimes this works. More often, the creator finds themselves constantly adjusting or correcting sloppy work, or even re-editing half the video themselves after paying the editor.
The creator becomes frustrated because the story isn't told as intended. They find themselves posting content they aren't proud of while dealing with the headache of managing someone else, spending more money, and being even more stressed than they began.
Scenario 2: The creator found an editor early on. The edits weren't amazing, but the editor was affordable and did an OK job. The channel had early growth, yet over time the edits became stale even though the creator improved the quality of the footage and storytelling. The creator needs more nuance, more storytelling. Someone who truly understands the desired style and could produce it with minimal input.
Fast forward a few years, and the creator becomes aware they have outgrown their editor. But they're friends now! They've watched the channel grow together! Perhaps they would even call each other friends. Instead of moving on to an editor who is more appropriate for the stage of the channel, the creator hangs onto the working relationship. Resentment builds, and eventually the relationship blows up or the channel suffers poor growth.
Team issues most frequently arise from two issues: poor communication about expectations or the person is not the right fit. Most of the time when major issues arise, it’s both.
We vastly underestimate how much we need to communicate, and in an attempt to offload the work we rush into team decisions that weren't right to begin with. The cost is emotional and mental, on top of the money spent. And simply because an editor is cheap and available does not mean that the money is well spent. What you may not pay in editing costs, you may pay for in frustration, management overhead, or lack of growth.
Hiring is a tedious process, and when it doesn't work out, it feels like the effort was wasted. Most creators remain in poor team situations because it's a lot of work to start over. Not to mention firing people is wildly uncomfortable.
As painful as it is, and as desperate as you feel the need to outsource the work, hire slowly. Fire quickly when it becomes clear they aren't the right fit. Communicate expectations far more than you feel is necessary. Make your standards abundantly clear, and if those standards aren't consistently met, move on.
A hard conversation today may save a hundred frustrated thoughts and a far worse conversation later.

AI video editing using real tools like Premiere Pro and DaVinci and Gemini (Antigravity)…
Will Resurrect DAILY CONTENT and bring back DAILY IRL CONTENT (vlog-like content but more polished).
Production + Personality + Presence + Proof of Human = High Status + High Trust.
It will be very similar to the Casey Neistat era.
What goes into the camera will be all that matters, as well as being able to run into your favorite creator on the street or at the airport.
With Packaging thumbnails and Editing videos solved… you’re going to see that PERSONALITY and PRESENCE are what matter for making a human connection through a screen.
And that the longing true fans have a for a human moment and shared experience with their favorite creator is meaningful.
The “HUMAN CRAFT” won’t be in slanting over software in front of a screen…
It will go back to the HUMAN CRAFT of 25 years ago before software are entering…
And the culture of 10-15 years ago when most people hadn’t mastered that software and it kinda got in the way of anything…
With few exceptions … the OG YouTube Stars never mastered video editing, they kept it simple and later the people they hired made it fancy.
The biggest content on YouTube other than Freddy Wong, was the least over-edited.
The beginning of flexing the edits really came to be a 2018-2020 phenomenon. And the lasted through the pandemic and the Mr. Beast Era.
2026-2030 will be the Authenticity Era, and ironically AI plays a role in that…
Where working class and solo content creators who don’t have teams, will have an even playing field where all that matters is what they want to say and what they want to share with you…
And whether or not you connect with that and want connect with them…

VidSummit just had its biggest year ever.
This is my 8th year of VidSummit and this might have been my favorite year yet! We usually have a lot going on but this year was on another level. This is just a fraction of what we had going on with some of our amazing partners:
@netflix / Netflix House: We took over the whole place for our biggest party. Themed food. Netflix arcade games. Real-life Squid Game. I was eliminated in the first game lol.
@Adobe: This is Adobe's 4th year showing up at VidSummit. As always they had so many things for creators to do. Hands-on training at their Adobe Labs with Premiere and Firefly. A look at what to expect at an event like Adobe MAX at their booth. This year @zachking shared his creator journey with Meagan Keane and it was one of my favorite sessions yet!
@CanonUSA: They had a portrait setup for attendees and did over 2,000 headshots. Plus Rory Kramer talked about creative freedom and burnout as a creator. Rory is Justin Bieber's longtime videographer / photographer. Canon also did all of the cameras we used for recording our sessions!
@OldNavy : At their activation on the 1st floor every attendee could come over and get a free jacket, dress or bag. They had embroidery, patches and even an airbrush artist who could do completely custom designs to make it their own. Love how my Jacket turned out with a huge VidSummit Logo on the back!
@OpenAI: Did masterminds bringing together different creators and teams to share how they use the tools to get their work done. Love how the emphasis was on taking the menial and monotonous tasks out of your day-to-day so you could focus on the parts of creating that you actually care about!
@YouTube: 1,600+ people a day coming through the creator lounge. Imagine a little woodland forest with games and snacks. You would've never known we were in a ballroom at a convention center!
@tiktok_us : Had a huge activation at the front entrance of the building. Showing creators how to better use their platform and why long-form creators should take TikTok seriously. @therealweissman and Romina Gafur spoke about fitting TikTok into the content you're already making without rebuilding your whole production calendar.
@sircalebhammer spoke with Allison Yazdian from @uscreentv and Robert Kaliati about how they built one of the largest paid YouTube membership communities. Financial Audit had just hit #1 on YouTube's U.S. weekly podcast chart for Sept. 21–27. Loved how Caleb was exactly like he is on the podcast! Uscreen also powers our replays so you can go back and watch sessions after the event.
UP: Nick Rotola spoke with @ChandlerHallow , MDMotivator about becoming someone people look up to. They also had puppies at their booth which everybody was OBSESSED with. They're spreading positivity with their curated social media platform.
Brand Deal Live: With over $75K in brand budget available to allocate @itsmattreichard brought creators and brands together. Creators of any size could pitch brands just like in Shark Tank. @epidemicsound, @surfshark and @TrulyFreeHome heard the pitches and talked through brand deals live onstage.
Jordan Matter: The 2nd largest YT creators by Views in the US and he spent an entire day doing an AMA. We set up his own portion of the conference center and he had a line the entire day. The building had to literally kick him out as they were closing. So cool to see someone with his following be willing to spend 8+ hrs trying to share his expertise!
@Clix: Announced Full Box Inc. with @ThisIsDglove at VidSummit. His new company brings together his businesses, ventures and community initiatives. They also spoke about creator-owned gaming and building Fortnite experiences. A look at how he's building a business around more than playing and streaming the game.
@Twitch: Had a booth showing creators the power of live and building communities. Twitch CEO @djclancy999 and @Jshock9nine came to talk about why creators are going live. Getting to spend time with your audience and interact with them in the moment is a different relationship than someone watching a video and scrolling past. They also had a booth at the main entrance where you could come talk with the team!
@facebook : Austin Powell spoke with Demi Bagby and Gray Davis about growing and making money on Facebook. Creators sharing how the platform fits into their business alongside the team behind it. They also had a hands-on monetization session with Austin and Frank Spada covering eligibility, Reels, long-form and the metrics that drive payouts. There's a lot more to take seriously here than just another place to post your content.
@opusclip: @itsandreabotez and Alexandra Botez spoke about moving beyond one format. Streaming, videos and podcasts. How those fit together and the workflows behind making it all work. Their session was about building beyond a single type of video instead of feeling like you have to stay in one lane.
@agentiohq: Abbie Sheppard went into turning one-off sponsorships into a media business and building repeat brand relationships. Love how they are bridging Brands and Creators!
@manusai: Practical AI workshops on testing content ideas, building interactive experiences and making repetitive work easier. Prompts and workflows creators could take back to their own businesses.
Swig Drinks: Kept people refreshed at the Welcome Party. A chance to catch up with people you already know and meet someone new before getting into everything else happening that week.
@rumblevideo: Brought its team and a booth where creators could meet the people behind the platform. A chance to talk with them in person about publishing and going live.
There was so much more that people did and this is just the tip of the iceberg! Special thanks to all the brands and teams that helped make this actually happen.

FYI: YouTube is updating the recommendation system to further prioritize original Shorts and reduce the reach of channels primarily aggregating or re-uploading other creators’ clips without significant changes
YouTube’s goal is to connect viewers with videos they find genuinely valuable and ensure creators publishing original content have the absolute best chance to grow and succeed
If you just love another creators’ video and want to get it in front of your audience, share it on your channel’s post tab, so everyone can watch the original
If you’re inspired by another creators’ clip and want to remix it or use it as the launching point for your own work, make sure you're adding real, distinct value all your own
Not just VO descriptions of what’s happening on screen, minor technical edits, or template-based bulk changes.
Bring your unique perspective, vision, commentary, analysis, and story telling to the conversation - craft your own, original content that will give you the absolute best chance to grow and succeed.
If your channel was previously aggregating or re-uploading and you shift towards original content, the recommendation system will re-evaluate reach,
